Joss?
Can't really say what it is. If I had to take a guess, I would say it is probably a Joss. That style of ringwork has been used by more than one cuemaker. Only two veneers is puzzling. ( I haven't seen one of those yet, but I would imagine they exist)
Whether it is a 68-72 Joss or a later example is pretty difficult to determine. There are plenty of Joss Cues that are unmarked.

I see many Joss cues whose age is mis-represented based on the markings.
Based on my experience (Which is limited) the block letter marking was used from the 1968 until about 1982. It was done by hand and there is reported to be a difference in the marking from 68-72 to when it resumed in 1973. It is reported that the marking after 1973 was more of a straight up and down lettering.
Sometime in 1982 they were marked with WHITE letters at the joint. (Through at least 1986.) After that they were marked with GOLD letters at the joint.
I suspect there is also quite a bit of overlap that went on during the marking development.
The markings of Joss cues are detailed in pretty good detail the Blue Book of pool cues. It even states that there was a period where no markings were applied. (Sometime between 1972 and 1973) It is interesting that examples of the marking in White letters was not included.
Attached are pictures of the markings used on some early to mid 80's Joss cues. I will have to take some pictures of block letter markings and post them as well.
I welcome any additional information on this subject. I am by no means an expert, and would like to gain more knowledge.
