Not sure who these guys are...

Yea, if someone teaches him to let go of that nine ball stupidity. :)

Sorry for sounding negative, but those are the kinds of shots that set you back in your straight pool game.

it says right there on the video who they are:
Ruslan Chinahov(russian pool champion) and 14 year old russian pool prodigy Maxim Dudanets.
I am from Russia so I got no problem reading cyrillic

Both good players. Not many 14 year old kids can run 45 in a match like Dudanets did. Is there money in pool in Russia? If so he has a future.

My thinking is that a 14-year old smart enough to play straight pool is on the road to developing the all-around skill set that defines champions. We should all be keeping an eye on this kid over the next several years.

unfortunately no money at all, so I fear when Dudanets reaches the age when he needs to enter the university (like college studies in the US), i.e. decides to continue education in order to get a real profession - he might give up pool at all (like many talented juniors before him did), or face a decline in his game. Chinakhov managed to combine higher education with serious competitive play but I can't tell anything about the quality level of his studies.
Dudanets is an aspiring player, he's really good for his age, played at junior Euro champs and at Eurotours, so hopefully he could be just another good player from Russia. Or, see how much it takes (and how little pays back) to be a pool pro, and just be done with it.

Industry is in decline not only in the States but here also, and much more as I can tell.

That's kind of what I figured. If I had a kid who was smart enough to go to college and good enough to be a pro pool player, I'd make sure he went to college. Pool is a tough way to make a living.

okay, I watched the shot finally (managed to find the match in a video archive as it is no longer available at Ustream). "The kid" making that crazy power draw positional shot is Ruslan Chinakhov, almost 21 y.o. Okay, he is still the kid to 14.1 veterans :p He is 2009 junior 9-Ball world champion, he's got several medals of European championships, mostly gold at junior level and all of a kind at pro level; so he has no future - since his "future" is now
