Buying a domain name

Were the guys not interested in buying a domain name? At least they got the 800 hundred line. If you call the 800 number it costs them money each time you call it. Posting something like that is like asking for a huge phone bill or a full email box.

I don't know how many places still have pay phones the kind you put quarters in like at the airport and train station or bus depot or taxi station, but if you dial the 800 number it bills directly to the owner of the 800 line.

I am not sure what 800# you are talking about but my small biz 800 # only bills me 4cents per minute.

How many fans and players would be unhappy with a lockout? Sometimes people unemployed or in school have time to automate a dialing system, some grannies I know would write massive numbers of letters, to fill up their mailbox and force them to sort through mail to find the important stuff.

You haven't been apart of an upset mob before have you.

So far you seem to be the only upset mob member. LOL

I hate to play devil's advocate here but shouldn't these pros have been locked out of playing in an amateur event anyway?

I mean if you go by their list of players that they themselves put out how can you let any of those people in an amateur event?

Not everyone on that list has been considered a pro. But yes, most of them are banned and have been.

Most of them couldn't play anyway.....it's just a few on the list who are borderline and complain when they can't play the amateur events. I will not name names but I see at least 3 who have played amateur events. This is giving those players a choice as to whether they want to be considered amateur or professional as they can't have it both ways I suppose.

Imagine running an amateur tour where certain players want to be considered amateur yet they are exercising their voice as an American Billiard Professional? I would think I would want to clarify this if I was a tour director before it became an issue with other players who know of their involvement in standing in with a association of professionals.

All very good points.

In the email from Maxim Billiards it states, "This ruling will not affect any supports or other membership categories of the ABP just the Professional Player Members as they have listed here" so it would be an easy fix, for the ABP, to create a new category for advanced amateurs who wish to join the boycott.

Very well put Eddie.

BTW, for those not familiar with the tour here is a link to the Amateur Qualifications/Disqualifications the tour has published. http://mxmbilliards.com//tour/aarules.htm

The tour also has a BEGINNING AMATEUR division and here is the link for those Quals/DisQuals http://mxmbilliards.com//tour/bgarules.htm

The Tour also has an OPEN division and Anyone can play in that division regardless of being a Professional or an Amateur.

no fear

i think all tournaments should be open. how am i going to be as good as the best if i cant play them? hell, id rather get beat by johny archer than joe smuck, and maybe ill learn a thing or 2. plus i will get the experience of playing the best players in a tournament setting. JMO.......

I agree totally Stitch....but unfortunately we as Americans have become lazy and want the walk before we crawl. No one wants to earn anything, they want it given to them. League players and nightly tourneys are all handicapped so the weaker and newbies have a chance to "win".

It appears that losing discourages people these days and they just quit. Once upon a time people believed that "winners never quit, and quitters never win". People actually practiced and played anyone and everyone to get better. Now it is "whiners never quit, and quitters always whine"<-----(by the way that is original and I want credit)....People are lazy, money is tight, and if they don't have a chance they don't play. Sad but true.

I applaud you for taking the time to post this here, I am certain that making this kind of decision was not easy, but the easy path or I should say the path of least resistance is far to often the path weak leaders and their pathetic followers choose.

It makes me happy to see that our sport still has people of substance and integrity. I only wish that other Leaders throughout our sport make the right decision like you have done and follow your lead. It would be nice to see organizations like the APA, BCA, TAP and all the others do something similar. I know for a fact that the most important people involved here will and are taking notice and these people are the Fan's. You know all of us little people who pay our money to support all of these organizations, and these are the very people who are getting screwed by all the Political non-sense the weak leaders of some of these organizations have forgotten about.

On the plus side at least there are lists of those who we the little people can boycott, by not paying them for instruction, by not buying products that are endorsed by them, and by not filling the seats at their exhibitions.

Thanks again for standing up, and I hope enough of the little people like myself who seem to be over looked voice their opinions like I have done here, and then back up their words as I plan to do so that these pre-Madonnas will take notice. This can hurt them more than they know, words don't mean shit, but when they get hit in their pockets they will pay attention and very very quickly. What you have done is a great start I am begging all the others above to support and follow your lead.

Very Respectfully

Just a no body who spends money and loves pool!!!!!!!

Does it really matter who you lose too? A loss is a loss.

It is also sad to think that you can't learn from anyone. If Joe Smuck beats you, there is a reason and you better figure what that reason was same as being beat by a top pro.

If Joe Smuck beats you , you just played a better player, duh.
