Play in these conditions?

Shot league last night under the effects of novacaine early in the match. I ran out my first two games. The third I was clearly on my way and messed up on my fifth ball to get position on the sixth ball. I lost 10-6 and then came up dry on the break. I have had 20-0's numerous times and twice before I remember I was pretty sick when I played.

Has anyone else played unconscious under the effects not self induced before? I mean doe's this have an effect on our mental state going into a match? Feel free to give some personal examples of unexpected play when you really shouldn't be in top form in points considered...

P.S. Going to shoot league now be back to see what others have done as well.

A friend of mine and I spent about 30 hours straight assembling pool tables in a new pool room.

Got done at 7 in the morning and I ran over to a shopping mall to help set up tables and play in the city bar table championships which I had qualified for.

When play began, I felt I didn't have two brain cells shaking hands. Lots of sodas and candy bars kept me in a vertical position.

Ran through everyone and ended up winning it.

After it was over, I felt I should have donated my body to science fiction.

Not sure if this applies, but years ago Danny Medina and I left Denver during a snow storm and headed for Wisconsin for the Mcdermott event.

We drove 40 straight hours in the snow and once we arrived I felt as if someone had beaten the crap out of me.

There was a ring game going with Mataya, David Howard and a couple of others I can't remember right now. They were playing for $50 a man.

Danny sees this and decides he wants to play. I asked him if he were absolutely nuts? But, we were young and Danny could be a bit peculiar at times and was aching to play. We ponied up $300 each and away he went.

For about an hour Danny just couldn't get a real shot and dogged one fairly easy out.

Finally out of nowhere he got a shot and proceeded to get out and put six racks on them. Soon afterwards he quit and we ended up a few hundred ahead.

It amazed me that anyone could even think of playing after driving 1100 miles in the snow that way. But, in those days Danny amazed me many times.

I believe drugs and their effects on pool playing have been discussed, ad nauseum, befroe...the final verdict: either good or bad:rolleyes:
