Now the John vs. Lou poll removed

It seems to me people (very select few) are hijacking the threads and are causing this. Maybe there are a few "protected" posters that if anything is said to them the mods ban those people or remove the threads. If these "protected" few can't take it then they don't need to dish it out! There have been a lot of bannings since I have been here, and some were warranted, some were not. Did Lou ever get banned? Didn't he and Schmidt have a very ugly thread on here? Something about John washing the balls in his high runs? I don't remember Lou getting banned, but several have been banned for doing and saying far less to Jam. (no disrespect to her I love her to death its just the truth) JB can be abrasive, but its POOL! Think back to when you were running around, Dick, I know you have said far worse and done worse than I have seen on here. I know I have! We all have. Makes me want to do like many others and just say to hell with the forum and not come back. I would love to hear what the mods have to say as to why they are being removed.....at least let us know why it is happening so we don't do it again.

100% correct.

Spimp's free Christmas eve tip of the day...

Why might a thread get deleted?

A. Read the forum rules, ALL of them. Does the thread in question break the rules in any way?

B. Know the history of posters like the mods do. This one is a bit tougher, especially for newer posters that don't know about ongoing feuds throughout the years, or topics that set specific posters off making the thread therefor spiral into an ugly direction.

C. Is the topic related to the section it has been created in? This can be a gray area and at the end of the day up to the mods to think if it belongs or not.

D. Is the topic in poor taste or even a topic that is just destined to start posts that attack each other? This can also be a gray area as certain topics are very relevant and great discussion topics IF handled appropriately minimizing emotion. Once again it is up to the mods if they want to see how it plays out or not.

At the end of the day WE (including the mods) are human and make mistakes. If you think the mods are able to see every thread, every post, every fight etc then you are mistaken. They have lives too, and to police an entire website filled with a ton of members is a thankless job. I am a member of a poker site that is a decent amount bigger than this one. There are a bunch of moderators on that site to help break up the policing of the threads. On this site there are only a few moderators which make it tough to catch everything and make everyone happy, especially when it comes to the topic of deleting threads and banning of members. In fact, it's impossible. This is their website so it is their decision to boot/delete/warn/ban whoever they choose. If you don't like it you can always PM them to ask why. Keep in mind they may not respond how you like, BUT it is their decision to do what they do. Creating repeated similar threads that get deleted probably (this is just a guess) does not make them happy. Threads that ask why any thread in general was deleted probably makes them sigh and roll their eyes because it just opens the door for more post whining.

The problem is one of manpower. I am also a member of several other forums where there are far more mods and when a poster does something out of line a mod will catch it and let the poster know and will remove or edit their offending post. Then if it continues they will remove the poster.

Thus ALL the content from ALL the other posters doesn't get thrown out. In my threads we had a lot of great thoughtful content about one pocket situations, pressure, gambling stories, and some fun barking back and forth. Some of the posters made some posts that they put some time and effort into and now those posts are simply gone.

I find that to be an awful way to moderate any forum. We are all part of this community and should be treated with a little more dignity and respect.

Where are the links for Barton purses? Are you making leather purses now?

I have a leather ball carrying purse that you made with my name in the leather but I haven't seen a "genuine" purse that you make.

thanks,
JoeyA

As in the other One-Pocket thread I have deleted the posts that are personal attacks. See the One-Pocket thread for full explanation.

Here is an idea...

In the action room make a sub forum for Lou vs. John. You can contain all related posts there. You can even sub categorize for polls, side bets, woofing, multiple persona posting, etc...

Just give it a section, next to the funny / gif thread it might be the next most comical thing on the forum worth reading.

The Loufig-Jbart poll started out as a great thread, but because of a couple of dicks, it gave us another dose of what's wrong with pool today.
All the big pool mouths should go out and spend some money at the pool hall for a change, buy a new cue, support your local cuemaker, join a league, do something instead of tearing the sport down all the time.

Merry ****ing Christmas

Well I just got on here and said let me look and see how the John vs. Lou

poll is going and what do you know it seems to have been removed, LOL

I've seen a lot of things said that shouldn't have been said in a lot of threads.

For some reason the John vs. Lou threads keep getting removed though

Why are these particular threads of which there seems to be great interest

being targeted ? There were more votes in this poll than I remember seeing

in most of the polls I've seen on this site, showing the interest !

I noticed that. I had checked the poll right before it was removed. Lou had been behind but the smart money folk had started voting and it was almost even. I'm pretty sure Lou would have surged way ahead.. But I agree with you. This is like the A&E channel..

I did this last week -

I bought the new CTE video and got an extra one to share.

I bought a sweatshirt from the local pool room Jamacia Joes.

I paid about $100 in table time.

I bought an OB1 shaft and put it in use.

I played in a Midwest Tour 8-Ball event. (But I forfeited after losing my first match 7:5 to play more one pocket instead)

I took a lesson from a well-known pro. We worked on speed control.

I also bought the Big Truck Fight night PPV and watched Chip Compton beat Brandon Shuff in one pocket.

I donated several hundred dollars to local players getting some one pocket lessons.

:-)

And I played a ton of one pocket. That was for myself though.

So all the people who voted for me are dumb-money people? It's always interesting on forums to see how some people like to characterize EVERYONE who is on the other side of an issue as dumb, stupid, ignorant, etc....

Especially when most of the people on BOTH sides don't actually have a lot of experience with the ACTUAL issue and are just going with their gut feeling/reaction.

With me and Lou for example, you have written a ton dogging me but yet you don't know me, have never seen me play, never seen me gambling, never seen Lou play, never seen him gambling, never seen us play each other and yet you are CERTAIN that he will destroy me, certain that he has lured me in with a lemon loss ten years ago and I am doomed.

I mean I was kind of surprised to see that so many folks are pulling for me and even some of the ones who voted for Lou said they really want me to win. That's pretty cool.

Like I said in that thead, I know how Lou plays. Nothing I have seen impresses or scares me. He is a solid player but does nothing that gives me any reason to think I can't win. On the contrary I have seen him dog easy shots so unless he plans to never miss I think I can count on plenty of missing by him in our set. And IF he never misses then great, he outplays me, better man wins.

But I am going in with zero fear and will be more than ready to handle anything he does on the table. One way I will do this is to gamble even with no spot with professional players often. If that doesn't get me ready to handle everything Lou can possibly do then I will admit Lou is the better player when he wins.

But up until he shows ME that he is I will continue to think that I am the better player even if we played today.

Karen made this one.

I'll say one thing, that amid all the controversy, this is shaping up as one very interesting match. Although when serious money (over 20K) is on the line. that always gets people attention. Right now I don't plan to bet (that could change) but I do plan to sweat it. That way I'll know where I stand with the case maker in case he wants to bank them around with me. I may have one good match left in these old bones.

P.S. John, I want a nice leather purse like that, only slightly smaller for my hand carry items in the Philippines. As you know, over there all the guys carry a small bag or back pack with them. I have a real nice sling type bag I use now, made in Ecuador. It's a very colorful knotted cotton bag with a zipper top and flap, similar in style to what you show there, only smaller. I never go out without my Willards tip tool and scotch-brite pad. Some habits die hard. ;)

Awww hell Jay, just say it. You carry a man's purse. You'll get through this just like I got through my Michael Jackson glove complex.

This is how I bank now.
