What I am wondering is do you guys believe in male higher level events, every single guy that enters has a chance to win? Doesn't every event have its; favorites, its up and comers, its slight underdogs, its long shots and its not chance in hell-ers
?
If the long shots and hell-ers didn't give it a shot, then who exactly would fill the field?
I am sure a lot of these women are playing for the experience and just the pure fun of it. It is a round robin event at least to start, so for their $500+ entry they are guaranteed a chance to play at least 7 matches! Not a bad deal, especially if you are local and don't have to pay travel expenses.
I saw the group that Jenn & Caroline are in (same group, so Davy we will really see if you're right about Caroline's game) but I would think Jenn is the favorite. Whatever, it really doesn't matter... they all just want to play.
Along time ago, a local woman who was a "longshot" on the WPBA said to me,
"It's a strange sport, you have to work so hard for so little."
This is still true if not more so now that the WPBA is struggling so much. It takes a lot of heart to show up and give it your all when you know you have no chance. And believe me the "hell-ers" know who they are. I played in 2 WPBA events and would classify myself as a hell-er. The goal becomes just not to embarrass yourself and to enjoy the moment! It was exciting and I am glad I got to experience it and earning an entry (I won a Q'er for the first one) was something I wanted to accomplish for myself.
Good luck to them all.
