Glad I could help and happy he likes the shaft and cue I rebuilt for him...

ya , i dunno who broke that ............. ill send you some pics of my low budget shop next week after i get everything in place:grin-square:

they do make great inserts, as all of the hueblers have them. Just remember that nylon based plastics have problems with glueing (problems with finish sticking also) I've seen quite a few heubler inserts thread right out of the shaft. I don't know what glue is best for nylon but someone on here should know, but I would definitely ask about which is the best to use.

best of luck,

thanks GG i was planning on using some 5 minute epoxy, but that may not be the way to go and when i ordered my nylon i got the lowest lubricant rated rod i could get.

Huebler is one of my favorite playing cues aswell so i figured i would try to make some inserts.

has anyone ever used a 3/8X10 nylon insert and pin before im curious to see what it would feel like???

i also have a few other ideas for the the nylon so i bought 50 feet of it lol.

thats the main reason im getting started in cue building i have alot of ideas and i love to experiment and it would cost a fortune to have someone make all my ideas, so i figured id do it my self. :grin-square:
on the quest for making a stronger better hitting cue with new ideas lol

what glues works best for nylon??? what did huebler use???

someone one told me rubber cement??? but that doesnt seem right:scratchhead:

Glues in general do not stick to Nylon, Delrin (Acetal), Polypropylene (PP). There might be some special glue that might work better, but you should in general avoid using these plastics if you plan to glue them or apply finish to them.

When you buy the 5 min epoxy from the hardware store, the mixing stick it comes with is made of PP. After the epoxy cures on the mixing stick, you can pop it off with your fingernails. The same thing will happen with nylon.

ABS glues fairly well.

i have made only 2 shafts for my hueblers. the inserts i made were from a cutting board sliced into squares and the turned to 1/2 dia. drilled and tapped shaft 1/2 13 and very gross thread were cut into the rod , fit was kinda loose . i cleaned the rod with laq thinner and used 5 min epox.
i dont use these to shafts alot because i have ob's but they see some use and so far they havent pulled loose. the center 5/16 threads are kinda loose so i dont tighten it anymore than just snug, need a undersized tap i guess.

i am by no means a cue maker or a very good repair man , just like doing my on thing and love my Hueblers.
