JoeyA,
I bought an OB-1 shaft the other day, screwed it onto my Szamboti and hit about 30 minutes with it. My experience with the shaft is that it has alot less deflection than the shafts I normally use and especially on inside english stroke shots, this shaft might be a better choice. I say might because it did seem to allow alot of english but I missed nearly every shot I tried. Now I know there is an adjustment period, but it got me thinking...is it worth it to want to change shafts? You and I have played alot of hours of pool, you are a bit older than me so I will give you a few thousand hours or so additional time on the tables as well. With all the time you have spent shooting balls and having your brain learn how to hit shots to make them, be it with no english, lots of english, etc, is it worth it to change the shaft? Does all the time you spent programming your brain on the right way to hit things get tossed?
I thought about it and I began to wonder if I was in a pressure situation...would I really want to start wondering again...hey how do i hit this ball again? I just feel like I am tossing aside alot of time spent learning just how to hit a shot, all loaded up with english or whatever...and it makes me question whether its the right decision. Don't get me wrong, if a person was learning to play pool I would recommend these low deflection shafts over the other shafts but it makes me wonder if you have already hit a few thousand hours of pool...is it worth it to change.
I know Schmidt seems to be playing good with his, so maybe the learning curve I am thinking of is not so bad. I know at least in terms of nineball, you and I might play somewhat close, so I am really interested in seeing what your take on this issue is.
