Things not covered by the OB Cues Warranty include, but are not limited to:
Damage due to abuse or neglect. Damage caused by playing with OB Cue Shafts without the carbon fiber pad that is placed between the tip and the ferrule.
Custom joint work provided outside OB Cues to fit a Partial OB Cue Shaft to a cue. When a Partial OB Cue Shaft is the original purchase, then OB Cues will replace a defective cue shaft with another Partial OB Cue Shaft.
============================
The carbon fiber pad does not stretch, so it protects the ferrule from expanding due to impact. You'll want to keep this on, and have it replaced with another carbon fiber pad if (and that's a big if) it wears out.
Most competent cue repair people will be able to take off the old tip and not take any of the carbon fiber pad off. Have done this many times myself.
Actually, you can retip many times without changing the pad.
Instead of "Facing" a little of the ferrule, or in this case the carbon fiber pad, away, you can actually just scrape it completely clean and flat with a razor blade. There are complete instructions on my website, www.obcues.com
I can't take credit for this as I first learned it from Sheldon Lebow, a fellow cuemaker and poster here.
