Ok so I'm changing too the new shaft very soon thanks too a great azer deal just wanted too ask how much better is it? Will I be happy with the upgrade? Honest I'm just kinda nervous I play good with the old one but everyone says the new is much better just hoping there won't be too much adjusting ect would like too hear guys who have made same the change thanks too anyone that replys

Better construction due to superior materials and lower deflection out of the plus but I Like the old classic... The classic has I think roughly 14% more deflection than the new Classic plus.... The old one fit me perfectly the new one may need a tuning.... Either way you go you will be ealing with one of the best customer service oriented companies ever to be in the billiard industry....

I would likely go with the plus simply for the fact that the old classics will slowly die out... Nothing like learning a shaft and then not being able to get the exact shaft again when the old one wears out... I ran precat predators for a decade but I had to switch when there few samples of that shaft left that were not heavily played....

I have 2 classics and I will be buying all I can find now that they changed... You have not tried either so go with the new one as it will have a longer life cycle starting from today....

Depends on what you like, what style of position you play etc.
As Chris noted, the regular classic squirts the cb a bit more, and is easier to force it to squirt. IMO the classic squirts a bit more than a 314-2 shaft.
The classic plus has a nice solid feel to it, Ive got Kamui clear ss tips on both of mine. The plus shaft IMO squirts a fair bit less than the 314. Without doing any real measurement tests, I would estimate it about a half inch of squirt on a table length shot.

More solid feel like the sound of that already I've always thought the classic had pretty good feel too have more would be great I use spin on just about about everything so too have less squirt I think I'd like it more hmm seeing that u have 2 shows that there pretty good thanks for the replys both of you

I just got the OB 2 plus with Kamui soft tip. I am still trying to get used to it. It is a very soft hit, somewhat because of the maple ferrule. I like a soft hit. It works very well for me in getting shape in close quarters. I am still having problems with long shots that have to be hit softly. The shaft takes English like crazy. I can spin the ball softly in close quarters. I have not had problems getting used to the low deflection. I think it is a well made and engineered shaft. Love the hit.

Yea I've got the chance too use a OB2+ they play great

I played with the Classic for a long time and loved it. I've hit some balls with the Classic Plus and like it quite a bit. It's been a long time since I played with the Classic but every time I grab my friend's OB Cue and hit a few balls I'm reminded of just how good that shaft really is. I don't think you can go wrong with either to be honest. OB is the real deal and Royce is a great guy to deal with. Enjoy your purchase whatever you decide. I know you will.

I had an OB classic a few years ago, hated the seams in the lamination which I could always feel. In addition, hit felt dead and deflection wasnt great. Ferrule was too short. Fast forward about 3.5 years. I now play with a classic + on a Schon butt now and all of that is reversed. No seams can be felt. Ferrule is a bit longer. Taper feels a little thicker/stiffer to me although I don't know if that's changed. Hit is lively. Deflection is low and very predictable. I am a big fan.

I have a Classic plus and hated the tip till i removed a couple layers.
I plays very very firm and nothing like the original Classic.I would still
change the tip right away if your serious about playing with it.
The original Predator shafts to me are still Gold in my eyes but
if your set on OB, then the Classic plus plays very well.

3 months ago i switched from a 314-2 predator to a OB+ classic. i chose the classic plus because i wanted a firm crisp hit rather than a soft hit. the first time i tried the classic+, it was what had been promised. i loved it from the 1st hit and bought it on the spot. i retired the 314-2 to my case and only there in case of some emergency. get the classic+ only if you want a firm hit though.

I have played with both. Personally I like the old OB classic. I switched from a 314-2 to the ob classic and could instantly feel the difference. Then I picked up an OB classic + and it felt like a 314 shaft again. I think there is a taper difference also not enough to set them apart . I like the taper on the original classic. That being said. They all play great

Really I was told the taper was the same?

The taper on the Classic and Classic+ are the same.
Not to be dink but the tapers are without a doubt not the same.Maybe it was
a fluke but I've had both from brand new just from stroking with both the
Classic plus felt thicker in the stroking area.
I wish I had calipers to measure them to get the numbers, but to me its
even visually noticeable.
Good shaft though!

SLuan from here on AZ bought one of the new classic plus shafts at Derby and I immediately thought wtf.. It seemed huge... I pulled out my pocket calipers and it was in spec to what my Classic was originally... I had played my classic down over the last year or so to where its only 12.6 which really isn't that significant in wear but boy did my fingers know the difference immediately.....

I only hit a few shots with it and was pretty happy with the results but it was not on my cue so I really would need more time with one on one of my playing cues to be able to give an informed opinion other than what I have stated....

I just picked up my second OB Classic, I been playing with one for the last few months and picked one up for my Schon, really don't want to get used to a classic plus but that's just me. Plus right now the classic's can be bought for a lower price.
