OB Digicue video

cleary

Honestly, I'm a liar.

Shane at OB asked me to put together a video explaining how the Digicue works. First of all, the product is awesome. I had to play with it for a few days to get a sense of what I wanted to do for the video.

I hope this helps people understand the product and how it works.

Nice video... But, it really didn't show how the product works. It was just a marketing video of a bullet list of the same bullet points that are on the website.

I kind of want to see when it vibrates, and when it doesn't. Actually see it working in with a real player and a real shot.

The information the video provides seems good for the masses, but not for the AZ crowd, imo.

Excellent video.
Liked everything about it.
Except the "can you beat the digicue" thing at the end.
Congrats though.
Very nice production.

Yeah it was a commercial. I hope the people doing the pass-around make videos of themselves using it.

It's sort of tough to do that without being a complete infomercial. The difference between a good stroke and a bad stroke isn't the easiest thing to show without completely exaggerating. Which I would argue is more for the masses than an AZ crowd. Also, it's silent. The only way to know it went off is to be holding the cue and tell someone.

Is the software Mac compatible? Is there an android and/or iPhone app for it? Just wondering how it gives you feedback; is it just the vibration, or is there more data available on exactly what is making it vibrate? Looks like a game changer.

It just vibrates. I hope they eventually make an app so I can track data and see patterns of what I'm doing wrong.

Without an app, it's still great. It really gets you to focus on doing things perfect. I've been using it for two weeks and I really like it. Used to this past weekend to warm up before a tournament and it really helped me get dialed in quick. Glad I had it, played very well.

How hard is it to replace the battery?

I'll need to....often. :(

From our FAQ's:

How long does the battery last?

The battery will last for approximately 40,000 shots.

How do I change the battery?

Remove the DigiCue from the housing, and squeeze the retention clip on the battery holder to release the battery. Insert, positive-side-up, a common non-rechargable CR2032 lithium ion battery. Return the DigiCue to the rubber housing of your choice.

A Product Of The Future Is Now Here

At some point I imagine someone will come up with a device that connects by USB port to the attached butt device and that in turn will lead to a wireless version and so once data can be compiled, analyzed and meaningfully displayed, this will be the cat's meow in training aids.......at the present, it is in the cat stage.

Look forward to testing this aid which I anticipate would be extremely helpful to novice players, and likely most other players as well. The sensitivity settings are what I am intrigued by since this suggests tighter measurements at the Advanced Setting.

p.s. Don't forget to spread word about the Luke Shimer GoFund Campaign......

Have you (or anyone else out there playing with it) been able to discern a pattern to when it goes off. e.g., it goes off because I don't stay down on X type of shot, or correct mid-course in Y-type? To me, that would be the most useful aspect of it - if you have specific tendencies and knowing what they are, so you can adjust in a game situation.

Cool tech, but needs an app.

Seems like for $100 or a little more, a Bluetooth radio that sends all that little sensor data to an iPhone/Android app would be a huge addition. I'd argue that it's almost an expectation with today's technology.

Access to the sensor data would allow you to track performance metrics over time. Writing access to the sensor would allow users to customize the delay time from hit to the alarm that warns you to 'stay down', among other things.

I liked that part. Makes practice into a game which might be incentive for some to practice more.
