ob jump cue?

Saw the new OB Lift, love the look, have not tried one though. I would buy one in an instant if I didn't already have a beautiful custom Lomax, that really is like cheating as someone else said... I don't even practice my jumps and can easily get over balls with good control.

If the OB is even close to a Lomax, they will sell quite well.

Which one Freddie? PM if you don't mind.

Sorry for slow rolling.

Curtis Robertson brought a jump cue set that attacks every jump
imaginable, including air bridge artistic jump shots. In the standard 40" mode, it jumped as easy as the X-breaker but without the stiffness and shock. The tip looks to be the same or similar to the high compression of the X-breaker. The weight of the standard handle (very low) made for a nice balance, especially in dart mode. Anyone who watched me jump with this cue could see that yes, Virginia, you can buy skill!

The price tag might be too high for normal users, IMO. And the greater ease of jumping wasn't so much more than the OB jump cue. If you want to jump one handed easier or if you're into artistic jump shots, the Robertson setup might be for you. If you want a great standard jump cue, OB Cues had a very nice offering.

Mezz' jump cue was a bit noisy for me, but I love their SBE staff!!

Freddie <~~~ I'd buy the OB

I tried the OB jump cue and some others at the expo. It wasn't bad, jumped easily. Overall one of the better jump cues. It seemed a little fat for me, but I have a Jacoby jump cue that I love so maybe thats the reason. I also do nothing but dart jump.

Well alone maybe not.. but I'm not with you. I haven't found one that is good at both. The sledge hammer was the closest. They are both something that needs to be a separate focused cue in my opinion. I only carry one shaft for my playing cue and one for my break cue. The butt and shaft of my jump cue fit in the two spots I have left for shafts so it's no big deal.

I agree, that's why I wondered whether it was possible to combine two into one. I am not surprised to know if it is not.

Case space is not an issue. It is just that I don't use jump cue much. I played 2 games of 10 ball race to 9, and I didn't jump once. I took my jump cue out because my opponent needed to jump, and he jumped only that one time in 2 games. Also with magic rack being used, power break is not that necessary. Often I break with my playing cue, to seek more cue ball control.

I don't play for competition. If I have a good jump/break cue, I can carry an extra playing cue in the case, and switch between cues for fun during the night.

We did launch our new jump cue at the SBE. It was very well received and we pretty much sold out of what we had.

The OB Jump cue comes in two models, The OB Lift, and the OB Lift Pro.

http://www.obcues.com/

The OB lift is a 2 piece jump cue (1 piece butt), that is 41" together. The OB lift is a 3 piece jump cue (2 piece butt) that is 41" without the extension, and 47" with the extension.

Both come with the OB Jump shaft, which is a solid maple shaft fitted with a special version of our laminated OB ferrule. They also have our OB Jump Tip. The tip is made from phenolic, but it differs than others because it doesn't have the canvas or linen substrate normally associated with phenolic.

Both cues make it easy to get over the object ball but also have other features designed to help the player be more accurate. It's a unique combination of the ferrule and the tip that help to reduce the squirt caused by an off center hit as well as help to reduce some of the unnecessary bouncing of he cue ball. Both of which will add to the success of most jump shots.

Steve Lomax is a good friend of mine, and makes some of the best cues out there. He's known for his jump cue, and it's as good a jump cue as there is. Although Steve didn't specifically design our jump cue, I'd be wrong to say that he didn't have an influence. I've known Steve for many years, and we talk almost daily about cues, pool, and just about everything else. I respect his opinion a lot.

Do you think you, or anyone, could post a picture for us?

Junk! I just gave mine away.

Tell me what good is a jump cue that doesn't jump?
OB claims its goal was accuracy! Well that's fine, I bet it is accurate, it’s a shame you can barely get the cue ball off the felt!
I admit when it comes to jumping I have a difficult time, I struggled with my OB lift for months, I had others try it as well and they all said the same thing, "It's hard to get the cue ball up in the air!" My first try with the Tiger "Wings" and I was jumping balls all over the place! If you want an awesome Jump cue, check out the new Tiger Wings Jump Cue! Plus the Tiger is a 3 piece Jump Cue so you can literally jump a ball that is only half a balls width away!
Oscar Dominguez happened to be at Tiger Products when I stopped by to get my Schon Cue stacked leather wrap and he was doing insane jump and draws, all kinds of wild stuff I never knew was possible! He was very impressed. But he uses his sponsors Jump cue, Mezz which is also awesome. But the OB "Lift" is a dud, who cares if it’s allegedly “precise” when you can't even lift the CB off the slate!

Check it out!

Mike,

If you can't get the cueball up in the air with an OB Lift jump cue then the issue is most likely your jumping ability, not the cue.....just my opinion of course.

Up to your old tricks again, ey Mike.

How about this:

https://www.facebook.com/100009331599524/videos/1468327056821667/?pnref=story

It looks like it jumps pretty good to me.

As a matter of fact, pretty much anyone who comes to our booth has been able jump balls very easily in no time.

Sorry that you've had troubles jumping with it. We're at the APA tournament at the Westgate right now, so if you could come by the booth I'm sure I could get you jumping in no time.

Royce

Where is West gate?

Well if there is a Tiger Booth there as well, I challenge anyone to try both cues and see which one is easier to jump balls with! Hey Royce, do you ever do any work or do you just play on facebook and AzBilliards all day?
Try spending more time making quality products!

Well, Mike. One thing I won't do is disparage Tiger. They are great people and build great products. We have a very good relationship with them.

I just don't work that way.

Yeah, they put tips on all your cues!
Westgate, TN? The Smokey Mountians! Figures only hillbillies will fall for your products.

Are you playing dueling banjo's to gather a crowd?

Yeah, they put tips on all your cues!

Or do you just pull up like Mr. Hanney from Green Acers and peddle that snake oil?

You are losing credibility rapidly here. Why disparage anyone here, especially when the comment makes you look stupid for not knowing what Westgate he is talking about? Incidentally too, its a bit rude to come into a thread specifically asking about the OB product and plug like this. If you want to see the respectful, polite way to give contrasting opinion, see Cornerman's post above.

I care!

And I know where westgate is pinhead, have you people no sense of humour?
And sorry I don't like companies that steals designs from thier competitors and make money off the sweat of others. OB has copied everything Tiger has done from day one and they continue to! And they dump a ton of money into advertizing. There is alot more here then just jump cues, its ethics and standing up for what's right!

Ok if you feel this way, why dont you create your own drama thread and raise this issue. The way you are going about this really is not doing Tiger any good. Just like the previous poster, my first thought was man is this guy a Tiger Rep? Bc if so hes doing a terrible job!

<------pinhead is fine. Ill take that description rather than what you are portraying yourself as.

Lol!
