After years of false starts and dead ends TAR On Demand is here. First video available is TAR 34: Efren Reyes vs Shane VanBoening One Pocket Race to 11. The 10 Ball and 8 Ball are coming this week. You can buy the one pocket for $5 or all three days for $15 and have access to them when they go live in a couple days.

These are big files so I make no guarantee on downloading them. You should be able to by clicking the download button but due to so many possible variations I can not guarantee it will work for you on such large files. I only guarantee the streaming video will work. You have access to the streaming video for one year and you can download the file to keep forever. Again no guarantees if your ISP drops the download or whatever.

So here is TAR 34: https://vimeo.com/ondemand/tar34 .

Remaining two days are being converted now and will be up by Friday. This is the same platform as the SVB Instructional is on and it has been very good so far. I hope to build it into a solid archive of matches for people to see.

nothing like false starts and dead ends, LOL just kidding, VERY happy for you and TAR-the beginning of a new era!!! i'm sure this will work out very well.

best
eric:smile:

Great news. The 5 dollar price point is pretty damn good. I will probably grab the 10ball when you put it up.

Thanks!!!!

I am so excited, I got a chubb. I can't wait until I finish this dumbass skool thing I am workng on so I can get back to watching some damn pool with my evenings.

Great news. I haven't tried downloading the file, but I got the SVB instructional video and it streams from vimeo directly to my TV perfectly. It's too bad about the 1 year limitation. Is that vimeo's restriction or yours?

Why is a one year limitation an issue? When you rent a movie it's $2 and you get it for one night, and its only two hours. You're getting 6+ hours of content for a year for $5.

Not to mention he's giving the ability to download it.

TAR is the cooler version of ESPN for pool. When are you getting your own cable channel?

If you see a short bald guy run up to hug you during the BEF broadcast you are doing, it's just me coming to say thanks :)

I can also offer you an exclusive live interview with the MA State 9-Ball Junior Champion, I'll have my people contact your people :grin-square:

Bought it!

Looking forward to the next step: a $XX annual subscription to the TAR archives. I wonder how many people would pay $10-$20/month for access to all TAR content over, say, 6 or 12 months old? At least one.

The longest term Vimeo allows access for is one year so thats what I went with. As mentioned above you can download the source files by just clicking on the "download" button. The SVB Instructional files are not too big but the TAR match files are giant due to length. The large size can cause issues for some which is why I do not guarantee the download only the Vimeo streaming.

The annual subscription thing is beyond my grasp it seems. The numbers just do not work out when you figure in storage, bandwidth, build out cost for a traditional VOD subscription site.

The cool thing about the Vimeo model is it allows me to price the matches pretty cheap and people can buy what they like. If you only want to watch the 10 Ball out of a TAR match just pay $5 for it. No need to pay $15 and then only watch a 1/3rd of the match.

As usual its not a perfect solution but so far its the best solution I have found that makes sense for us.

Agree with you, that should be profitable for TAR and for us.

VERY awesome!!!! Best thing is that while youtube is blocked on my work computer, Vimeo is not. I see a lot of pool at work in my future;)

Really want to watch the first TAR with SVB vs Corey, the barbox with Frost vs SVB, and the 8 ball matches between Dennis and SVB. In short Thanks. Probably wont be put up for awhile but i can wait

Is it the same reduced frame rate as the HD stream or will this be a full 30FPS HD?

The HD stream is not a reduced frame rate going out from us. It goes out at 1500kbps 30 fps. What people get on their end is not in my control on a live stream due to many factors covered ad nauseam here over the years.

The VOD file is 1280x720 6000kbps at 30fps.

Ahh... okay. I wish audiovideoweb would let us choose the quality. Thanks

Oh yeah?

What do you think about costs for storage, bandwidth, build out cost for a traditional VOD subscription site.

Sounds like the sort of thing that crowdfunding could work well for. The basic idea is that a potential project declares what they need to go forward--$20k for storage, bandwidth, build-out, say. Then people donate in exchange for perks (say, 1 free month per $10 donated). If the declared funding level is met, then the project gets the money. If not, then all donations are refunded.

See http://www.indiegogo.com/features-of-indiegogo. They take a 4% bite if the project is funded, $0 otherwise.

Basically, it makes everyone who says, "I'd buy that" put their money where their mouth is.
