Any of you have or hear of a warping problem with ob1 shafts? I took excellent care of my cues. I mean I play everyday and my cue looks like no one has ever played with it. I don't let sitting out at home...I don't let leaning against a wall nothing and it warped pretty bad. It starts half way down the shaft and by the time it gets to the tip it's about a quarter of an inch off the table. I bought it like 2 years a go so I'm not sure they will do anything about it. :(
 
Things happen, wood will (can) work regardless of good you treat it.
From what I've experienced so far OB is one of those companies that goes above and
beyond their normal warranties to make sure they have a satisfied customer.
Contact them and you may be surprised.

I would imagine that as long as you have not altered the shaft other than changing tips that Royce will stand behind his product.

Hi I've had a similar problem with my OB 2 shaft. I have had it for less than a year and, like you, take great care of my equipment. This is the first shaft I have had that warped while in my possession. When I bought my shaft I noticed some small cracks between the wood 'strips' near the joint but thought it's just a cosmetic problem. Maybe not. It's hard to explain, so I'll get some pictures up once I get my macro lens back. I have no idea if that is what caused it to warp but it may be an indication that there was a manufacturing problem? I initially didn't want to post anything about this but haven't heard anything back from Mr. Bunnel. Maybe since you have a similar problem we'll get some feedback.

I could see a slight roll (and I mean slight), but it's hard to understand how an OB1 shaft could warp a 1/4" off the table (this is a lot of warpage). Warpage in a solid piece of maple can be understood since the grain could pull one way or the other, but an OB1 shaft is made up of many individual pieces glued together and it doesn't make sense that so many pieces could pull out of the original straight configuration to me.

I emailed him this morning. 25 years of playing and I've never had it happen either. Strange..
 
I have had OB-1 and OB-2 shafts for a couple of years and are all straight and solid. Now the person shooting may not shoot so straight, but the shafts are all perfect.
 
My ob1 is perfect...I've had it for 5 years and love it...
Can someone give me Royce's e-mail ???

All of my emails are current, so if you have contacted me you should have been contacted back. It is Sunday, and I have not been at the shop since Friday so you could have left a message their and I will get it tomorrow.



For everyone, the best way to send a cue shaft back to us for warranty consideration, or anything else for that matter, can be found on our website, www.obcues.com. At the beginning of this year, we started to apply a label to all our cue shafts asking the customer to register their purchase. If you have done this, then we have your purchase information. If not, then we will need that information to when you return any product to us. On our website is a product return form. You would be amazed at how many packages we receive with no documentation as to where it came from or who owns it. Nothing! Much less what is needed. Sometimes it is a cue to build a shaft for. Sometimes its just a tip replacement.

I hope this helps! If you are trying to contact us on a weekend, be patient and wait until Monday rolls around. We can't be at work every day!

Ob cues

Royce and OB cues are tops!

I play with ob-1 and my son Manny ( Thanks to Royce at OB cues) Plays with an OB-2 cue, which he used this summer to win an VNEA International Jr team championship ages 9-13.

Hes 11 and loves his OB-2 cue. He also won 1st place for the Artistic pool competition for all age brackets and took 5th-6th place in a field of 121 players in singles competition.


So yes OB-cues are great! Just ask him!

And OB stands behind their products.

No matter how a shaft is made something wrong can happen. The way they make OB-1 shafts is amazing and to have one warp is even more amazing because of the way they are made. Alot of OB-1 shafts have been made (thousands) and this is the first time I heard of one warping.

As great as the OB-1 products are their customer service is even better - the best in the business.
