OB2 - What do you think?

I hit some balls with the OB2 at the DCC in the hall on the OB cue not my Scruggs. I thought it was really solid in comparison to the OB1 I hit with last year and I never liked the Predator. I liked the feel of the cue and the shaft combo. The tip is thin but the shaft feels thick. I believe the shaft is going to be in my case when I go back down to the Derby tonight.

Who likes the OB2, does anyone own it on here and not like it after buying one and playing with it for a while?

How has the OB1 held up for people on AZ just wondering on the overall OB quality? I have definitely heard some quality issues with Predator ar the OB shafts better.

I do not think I would be bothered at all by the wood colored ferrule but that was mentioned to me as a potential issue does it bother anyone.

BTW - This will go on my Scruggs sneaky pete which is my trunk cue and is always in my car, I keep it in a Porper 2x4. OB's Royce thought it would be OK as he does the same with his stick. My Phillipi shaft/Scruggs SP has been living in the trunk for years and it now has a very slight wobble. It held up for 10+ yrs in the trunk.

This cue combo is the results of some trading around along time ago so I really do not want to hear about any charges of cue abuse (I know I know I know) but I like keeping one in the trunk anyway.

elvicash, I have the OB-1 and just bought a OB-2 from Smokenum. I really like it alot, its not much smaller diameter than my OB-1, and has a nice solid hit to it. If you never had the OB cues, the ferrule just gets dirty pretty quickly and is harder to clean than normal ferrules, although thats the only issue I have with the OB cues.

Overall, I am very happy with my Lucasi Radial and OB-2 combo

I just started playing again after barely touching my cue for 7 years, and when I got it back out I realized that I couldn't stand the way the 314 shaft I had hit. I decided to get a new cue right when I started playing again; one of the upsides of living in Dallas now is that I could try out pretty much all of the cues and shafts available. I ended up with a Schon LTD and an OB-2, so far I'm liking the shaft but it's taking some getting used to. I find that I get a lot more spin than I did with the Predator, with less deflection. So, I have to compensate less for deflection and more for throw. Because of this, I've had to learn to use about 1/2 tip less english than I would have with the 314.

It seems to work best for soft finesse shots, I have a problems when I have to hit it hard - especially when using extreme draw. Of course, this is more than likely due to the fact that my stroke still hasn't really come back :).

The ferrule has never bothered me. I'll have to hit a few balls with the ob2 at the super billiards expo.

I have less than 2 hours of table time with mine so far. It certainly gives a stiffer/more solid hit/feel than the OB-1, despite the smaller diameter. Squirt is quite minimal, as advertised. I still need more practice time with it before I will know if it will replace my standard Josey shaft.

Something I noticed with my OB-1 myself, and also from chatting with others who have tried it - and I will assume it applies just as much to the OB-2:

Give. It. Time.

Don't screw it on and shoot with it for about half an hour and give up on it. It takes a bit of time to subconsciously adjust to how it plays.

I bought my current OB-1 (after my gear was stolen last year) off a guy who had bought it, played with it for like two hours, and gave up on it.

I would also agree with this statement. I've had mine for a few weeks now and it does take some time to get used to it.

I have an OB-1 and played great with it right off the bat. I tried going back to my Predator Z and feel like I can't make a ball. I loved the Z, but not anymore. I do miss the ferrule though. I am not a big fan of the wood colored swirl, but am not going to complain because I play so well with it. I will probably pick up an OB-2 at the SBE this year.
