OB2's are Here!

Papa Red

I think we could fix you up with a 13. I don't build them for stock at 13 because we just don't get many requests for them. It would take a couple of weeks, but it should not be a problem to do.

Our first showing of the OB-2 will be at the US Open next week. If anyone is going to be there, stop by the booth and you can try it out!

I also need to thank Trigger. She is our webmaster and is always a tremendous help to us. She put the OB-2 page together from very little information in a very short time! Thanks Champ!

I am definitely going to stop by and check them out this week. I LOVE my OBCue so I'm interested to see the difference with the new shaft.

HeLLFiSH,

The new OB-2 appears to be much lower in cue ball deflection, or squirt, than the OB-1. This is due to the lower mass of the smaller tip end of the cue shaft.

We have not been able to test it scientifically as of yet, so I won't make any specific claims. I do know that personally, I have to adjust to switch back and forth between it and the OB-1, and the OB-2 seems to have much less.

Is the construction method still the same as the OB1, the only difference is the taper?

Hellfish,

I've been playing with a Z shaft for a little over a year now and before that, I played with a 314. After trying the OB2, I told Royce right away that I felt it had less deflection than my Z shaft, aside from having a little better feedback from the shaft compared to the Z. A few other people compared both shafts, and said the same thing. Keep in mind, none of this is proven yet...it's only by feel from fellow pool players.

Royce and the crew did a good job with this, and I can't wait to play with one in the near future.

Construction wise, it is very similar!

The only real difference, other than the taper, is the Vibration Dampening Core. The core is basically the same design as the OB-1, but just a little smaller. the smaller core is what allows us to go down that small. Also, the smaller core makes the shaft a little stiffer.

Thanks!

The OB-2's have an 11.75mm tip diameter and modified taper. I hear a lot of people have been asking for a shaft like this - I am gonna try it out.

T-wheels,

His name is Royce Bunnell, and his business partner is named Don Owen. Royce is posting throughout this thread as RBC. The office number to OB Cues is 877-399-9901

To the best of my knowledge,

The ferrule is 1/4" shorter than the OB 1, which should put the ferrule length at 1/2".

Royce will be taking a batch of the OB 2's to the US Open, and will be taking orders for them as well.

As far as the price goes...it's going to be selling for the same price as the original OB 1 shaft.

You can contact Royce at RBunnell@obcues.com for any other questions....Hope this helps a little bit guys.

I'm now playing with an OB Cue. :) Is it safe to assume the OB2 will have no problem fitting the OB Cue?

I'm sure OB Cues will be making these OB2s in various joint types, but still following the same diameter standards as before. OB Cues have a standard 5.16x14 joint, which isnt hard to find.

PS Shayla, Keep Austin Weird!

Specs:
# 11.75mm tip diameter
# 1/2" Laminated Maple Ferrule
# Combination pro/conical taper
# Everest Tip by Tiger Products
# Available to fit all the popular joint sizes and styles
# List Price $235.00 for all joint sizes
# $185.00 for Partial cue shafts
