Observations about Meucci Cues

proofs in the pudding

I got my first meucci back in the mid 1980s from playmore billiards in wichita,ks from reece the owner. He ordered tons of them during that timeframe i got at least 3 from him and i loved them all. However after saying that here is what i remeber he would get 10 to 20 cues in at a time and always had to send some back in because of poor quality control, and mind you these were meucci originals. Over the years i have also played with plenty of the newer meuccis, and like everyone has stated here there quality control has just went lower and lower to the point where i have even talked to several distibuters that have quit carrying them at all do to how many they would have to send back on every order. About 3 months ago i was trying to get some info on a very old meucci i have , i called and left 3 messages with them and guess what no responce as of yet. Now i dont know how any company can be called a great company when they have had so many problems over the years and still have such horrible customer service. Oh and by the way i have about 5 meuccis still in my collection.

The point of my post is......... do some meuccis hit great? Sure they do but that doesnt take away from what a horrible company they have been over the years. A good example of two cue makers from the same time are meucci and mcdermott take a look at most old d-series mcdermotts from the eighties and then look at the meucci originals, most of the time the mcdermotts held up much better then the meuccis. What you will see is much less cracked joints, ferrules and inlays. Which i think is an example of meuccis poor craftmenship from the start.

Only great player i know that plays with a meucci is cliff joyner and it was a meucci original.

I happen to like meucci's very much when the ferrule needs replacement as they so often do. Seriously some meuccies hit good, but most don't. Sounds like some people need to go to the expo and get an education!!! What you are looking for is a cue that "hits a ton" not a whippy shaft piece of junk.

What? Is he Darth Vader and you Luke Skywalker? "Most despised pool player on the plant?" Give me a f#$@ing break.

He's been banned from AZ among other places for his intolerable behavior. On rec.sport.billiard his name is legend for spewwing christian crap and homophobic obscenities in the same breath. One of the most intorerant people I've ever encountered on the Internet. He's slammed some, if not most, of the most respected posters on many Internet sites for not agreeing with his bullshit.
And I'm not giving you a break, your behavior doesn't warrent it.

So tell me again how I'm a loser, wannabe-poser, idiot parrot that googles other peoples whining and makes it my own.

OK, so you're a wanna-be poser with some nice cues. That PFD is a very interesting cue. I wonder how Paul did that?

I think what happened to Meucci is they got too big too fast, started becoming primarily a cue styling marketer instead of a quality cue builder, and the quality plunged. The rush to build and sell took precedence over quality control.

I collected Meucci originals at one time and had many nice Meucci's. They used real ebony, nickle silver, real abalone, etc. The newer ones went to almost 100% synthetic. I ordered maybe 20 replacement shafts at various times. Virtually every one of them warped within a few months of receiving them, and they were stored properly in cases in an air conditioned house. I finally gave up.

That being said, there are probably more collectors of old Meucci's than any other cue and a lot of collectors (even big time collectors) started with them. I've since moved on to other stuff, but I liked the old Meucci's -they had a lot of character. I also had very good service from Darren and the Meucci staff.

I'll leave those type of women to you, more your type I'm sure.

So then you want their address? You ready to put your $ where your big mouth is? I'd love for you to walk in with your 'cue knowledge' and talk to their operators. I could even film it and put it up on YouTube, I'm sure it would make for a good laugh, even better than your sorry ass joke. Whenever you're ready dude.

You know a good laugh is that knowing a lot about something does not mean you can make it, assemble it, built it, etc. Just look at Kia. They obviously know how to make cars but they are still sh*tty. Noone is contesting their knowledge and ability to make cues. We are just saying their cues are not what they used to be and are nowhere near the quality that the name Meucci should command. Do you work there or something? Why are you defending those men like you owe them money?
