Odd playing cue.....

About 3 years ago, my partner and I were at Sleepless in Sandusky. There was a player there we met that had a cue I never seen before.
The butt was shaped like a hexagon. Haven't even seen a picture of one ever since. Don't know if I would like it or not. But it was a beautiful piece. Any ideas on who made it? He said it was a custom that he won in a raffle. Cant remember who he said made it.

Longoni made several cues in that form some with really nice intarsia.may have been what you seen .hope it helped

I think that's what it was. Thank you. It sure had a different feel to it. I didn't ask to hit with it it but it felt....well.....different.

The famous one is the Longoni Ambra, it is octagonal btw.

A hunnert years ago, well maybe only 99, I ran across a house cue with eight sides. Don't remember much about it other than one piece and seemed likely to drive a splinter deep deep into my hand sooner or later.

Same place had a cue with no take down joint that had a shaft with almost zero taper to where a joint would be then the butt was pretty typical size for today's cues, a little skinny for then. Seems like the butt might have been zero taper too, had some ring grooves cut in it for grip. As might be expected this cue had a bow in the shaft WC Fields would have been impressed to see. Oddly enough when the bow was turned vertical the cue didn't play that bad. Of course that was compared to the other cues in the place where having a tip on a house cue made it stand out.

i had a predator/longoni special edition that had a hex shaped butt to it. It was one of the special editions that predator put out.

That's Ron Zampco's cue. He's the best one-eyed player I've ever seen.

He made that cue from a blueberry tree I believe.
