What Ghost do you play even?

10-Ball ghost just plain kicks my ass. I've beaten the nine ball ghost a number of times on easy tables but any race over 7 at the ten ball ghost and there is no way in hell I'd bet $$ even with small odds.

Even when I break well, it seems like there are a lot more clusters and work to do and I think you have to be shortstop speed to even think you can beat it, day in, day out.

I wonder what people would put down if they had to bet at least a 1000 and have it aired live on TAR.

Is there anybody out there?

What happened to all of the people that wanted to take me off by backing the 10 ball ghost? What happened to this:

Every person and i mean every person who put down they beat the 10 ball ghost can try it and bet what you want on my 9 ft pro cut diamond and you can win A LOT.

I'll tell you what I think. I think that Cincy fancies himself a bit of a pool player, and even though he can't beat the 10 ball ghost he would like to think of himself as something special. Well, I've got news for you Cincy. Not only can I beat the ghost, but so can almost all of the other guys you called out. The only reason that you haven't heard from them is that they were smart enough to realize that you are all woof and no gamble and that it was a waste of time to try to get into action with you. If we ever make a game we're posting up AFTER I hold your C-notes up the the lights to make sure they're real............

if travel is involved the wager would have to be more than $100.

Cincy-

I said that the bet would have to be MORE than $100 (that is what APA7 or some other guy had offered to wager, I was LMAO too).

I just got your PM, so I would like to publicly acknowledge that you are offering some action. I will get in touch with you to work something out.

Thanks,

Tin Man

Bump.

It's been 2.5 years since the start of this thread. Has anyone improved their ghost rating since then? Did anyone get worse?

I can safely label myself a G6 now (possibly a G7 with the red circle CB ;)).

EDIT: Oops, it's been closer to 4 years since I started this thread. Man, my progress has been slower than I thought. At this pace I'll be a G10 after my kids graduate college.

what i'm gonna do is have one of my programers write a front end program to set up the length of the race, how many balls are used in the game, pocket size and seperate field for different rules, the back end program will take that data from the player and generate reports, and archive them and also put the data into graphs. And probably a few other things I cant think of right now, this Idea popped into my head a week ago.

It will be intersting to see historical data over a one year period of time and see how much improvement a player has, or in my case how much worse, i'm not jokeing. I was playing last week and as most of you know my back is a disaster and i have been playing less and also worse each month, which got me thinking about how bad my condition is, i started playing again for several reasons getting my back better was one of them, well that isnt going good, each month i seem to be playing worse and I dont have any evidence of that, so building a program to track "Playing the Ghost" idea popped into my head.

I remember last june I was beating the 6B Ghost easily 4 & 5 packs were easy now I run a 5 pack once in a while, my decline is due to my health, but for other people it would work the other way-hopefully I'll be like that again.

When I get back to America I'm gonna have one of my computer programers write a clean front end so it will look proffesional which it will be and another programmer to program the back end. I have to teat it and think more abot it, when its ready i might sell it(real cheap), sell the rights to someone else or give it away, my programmers are 6 figure guys so its gonna cost me to create it, if i break even i'm happy, first things first I gotta get a beta version

I'm a programmer, and I did exactly that. I wrote a little (simple, cuz it's just for me) program to enter the stats of a match and record them. Then I can look over the history of my performance for a given date-range. I don't have any fancy charts or anything, just grid-type data, cuz like I said, I wrote it just for me. I was thinking about beefing it up to extend to some other locals that I know would also be interested, but haven't had the time to really get into it.

If that was made into an android app, it'd be killer

I figured it'd be great to put out as a mobile app, but I'm a windows developer for now. I am interested in doing some android work, but I haven't even looked into it enough to know if there's a .net port to android. heh

progress?

LOL, I forgot about this. I was mad this game didn't go down. Probably a good thing. It's a tough game!

I've probably gotten worse since then. But I might still get down :)

My personal rating improved a lot. At the time of this thread I hadn't played in 10 plus years and want even aware of this site. It wasn't like I was good when I quit either. I was the definition of a banger and doubt that I could beat the 3 ball ghost when I quit, or when I came back.

Now I play the 9 ball ghost even. I am still working on beating it on this triple shimmed Diamond Pro I practice on. My best on that table is losing 9-5 i think. My worst is.....well lets just say it is worse.

I play the ghost where if I have a decent shot on the first ball I won't take bih. I am more interested in break n runs than beating the ghost.

I play the 6 even on my 9" crown with tight pockets.
On a 7" I could probably play the 9 even. I can't see too well these days.

Good question that needs clarification.

When I say 5 ball ghost, I mean racking only 5 balls. Also assume everything stays down after the break, and scratching on the break isn't a loss.

I actually never really play the 5 ball ghost...since it's cumbersome to rack only 5 balls. I practice using the 6 ball ghost. Right now, I'm losing on average about 5-3 to the 6 ball ghost, but I dominate the 4-ball ghost. So that's why I say I'm a G5.

I see a member in the 10 category that has ducked every wager I've ever seen them place.

No, I'm not referring to you.

I have seen pros get robbed playing against the 10 ball ghost. Another pro used to get 5 to his 3 bucks back in the day, and break around even in 9 ball. Not a good bet for most, unless maybe a pro on his home table with buckets.
