*** Official Day Three Mosconi Cup Updates

It's all phony anyhow.
Some of the best players in the world, racing to 5. It's just silly.

I don't like the short races either but when you really think about it -- it's not a short race. It's much closer to a race to 70 team event than many realize. This is the reason the inferior team has a hard time winning.

Not sure about that 70 number but it's probably close.

so none of the European rump rangers on here want to bet a few thousand on their supposed best player in the final match? Put up or shut the f#$$% up

AND it's a race to 5. The best shot that Appleton will ever have to beat Shane.

lol, so boring, so predictable. Talk about variance again. That'll be fun.

I dont hear any Europeans bragging or claiming anyone is better than Shane, I only hear Americans making excuses and complaining about the team picks.

Ok I'll stop commenting. Enjoy the show.

Oh dude that wasn't directed at you! People making APA 5 comments and other negative remarks towards the players, thats who I was referring to.

I'm able to watch the stream myself, but I sincerely appreciate you keeping everyone who can't updated.

Well, we will have to agree to disagree. The table is tough and all the players are still struggling with it on Day 3. So maybe a league player on a bar box would do OK. But put them on that table, in front of that crowd, with the TV cameras, lights, and the rest, no. No one has to like it. And you can see that reflected in all the shots missed on both sides. Already these guys are doing better than last year's team when supposedly we had the creme de la creme on our team. All those guys fooked up as bad or worse than Schmidt.

So you're honestly trying to sell it to everyone that a professional player can't adjust to table speed after three days of matches and plenty of practice time in between those matches? Then he's not truly a professional, if that is in fact the case. Speed doesn't seem to be affecting the rest of the players every single rack. That's just an excuse.

Don't let people get you down Watchez, you are doing many of us a great favor. Haters gonna hate

I don't think I was being demeaning to anyone. Just describing the misses and the makes. Of course John Schmidt and anyone else on the Mosconi and all the great players in here know more about pool than me.

But I would say to John face to face, he should have looked at the 5-6 to make sure he wasn't going to pocket the 6....for example. John has run 400 balls, can you imagine the pressure on every ball after say 250. He knows how to handle pressure.

It's 3-3 btw. Hall with a break and run. SVB with a pep talk to Hall after the game.

He elects to put the cue ball against the rail, seemingly leaving the one open, justin refuses nikos misses the one and scratches

Another thing is -- no matter what happens from here on out I've been really impressed with both Justin's. Had Shane brought it the first two days the story would be different right now.

Anyway, I haven't given up hope yet that we can turn things around this year. But just for fun how about next year's lineup looking like the following:

SVB
Hall
Bergman
Dechaine
Veteran Wild Card (give the vets a shot at making the team).

Nikos can't make 1 ball and he's 7 ft away down table. Gotta duck. No plays pushout. 1 is super tough with CB on rail. He gives it back smart man. 2 ball shape is natural. Nikos has to roll in a 15 degree cut from rail and scratched.

Hall should be out

Professionals ??

So easy for the keyboard cowboys to sit back and talk sh1t about bad play from their basements. This tournament is unmatched in pressure and I'm sure 95% of this forum would be drowning in their own piss with some of the shots these guys have had to take.

Sit back and enjoy the tournament and appreciate what these guys are trying to achieve before being so quick to throw up all over the forums.

Everybody knows that there is pressure but these guys are "professional pool player's" they are expected to perform well in pressure. If they can't, that's their problem. They are not your regular league pool players or shortstop. So, people expect better from them and it's disappointing to see them not play well.

Don't you dare stop commentary! :frown:
I can't watch it at work and your posts are the only way I know whats going on!

Your posts are also the only posts that are well thought out. Reading "dang he missed dat ball," is not very good commentary and some of the members here are posting just because they can.

They're *all* struggling after three days. If you can't see that you're not watching. And Schmidt just got a couple of bad rolls. Day One he played brilliant run out pool.

Ok - block me if you don't want to read.

Niko with a ball on the break but no shot on the 1. Rolls out, freezing cue ball on bottom rail and 1 up to the corner. He misses, the cue actually goes into the corner he was shooting at and scratches. Slops in the one as well.

Hall with ball in hand, tough out with the 4 on the rail and partially blocked for position by the 5. He getsr real close to the 4 and has to shoot away from it, pocketing it in the corner. Cue ball to the side rail and back across the table for the 5 in the side.....he elects to go in the corner to get better shape on the 6 and misses.

Now Niko puts the 5 up in the corner and hooks himself on the 6 with theh 9. There are only two balls on the table. He kicks bottom rail, full hit and tries to hook Justin back with the 9, sending the 6 up table. Justin can see 6 and tries the long rail bank. He banks it short, 6 goes 3 rails and again Niko is hooked by the 9 on the 6.

Kick shot by Niko using the bridge is good but 6 winds up by the corner pocket. Justin goes two rails out to 9 in middle of table. Makes it in the corner for a 4-3 lead.

He had 5 in side but missed down rail.

Nikos shoots 5 ball cut. Cueball 2 rails behind only other ball left...the 9. He hits 6 up table.

Hall has real thin back cut but long banks badly... somehow safe accidentally behind 9 ball.

Nikos will hit it but puts it in corner. Ok let's not mess up hete. He's ok on 9. And finally it's over.

I don't disagree the better team is winning, I just hate races to 5 but it is built for tv. No one but us is going to watch races to 100. What one of us wouldn't have wanted to see more of that Gray vs Schmidt match?
