While I don't think there could possibly be any more room on Varney's nuts, I think he might kick someone off to let you on....

So you're quite pleased with it? Now that you've had a chance - cue assembler or cue maker?

Thank you for the honest review sir...glad you are impressed with the cue.:)
There you have it folks...a review of my j/b's written by the one who historically has hated me most.:D To be fair his j/b is a very nice 2001 model but was upgraded with a few parts to make it perform the same as current models. Below is a pic of pharaoh68's j/b. :)

So how would you rate in order your favorite jump breaks you've experienced?

Fair play, Pharaoh. Good review & very informative. Rep to you.

My only complaint is it makes me want a j/b even more! One day, one day.

pharaoh68 -
thanks for your post. it was good to see that your personal feelings were put aside to write an objective review.

Brian,

Very well put together review. You took time to look at every aspect of the cue and put it down into words for us. It will be very informative for many future users.

Our deal to get together when my player is finished still stands. In fact, I look forward to meeting you and playing a set or two with you. I believe it's still in the early stages so it may be a little while longer.

Best regards sir,

I personally prefer a slightly longer jup cue (3-4 inches longer than standard). I feel it lets me sight the shot better rather than being buched up over the cue ball. Probably because I am a bit taller than average - 6' 2".

Cue looks good to me! Maybe one day I'll give one a try...

Exactly

Can someone, Kevin or Pharoh, measure and tell us exactly how long the jump cue is?

I was first :-)

Hey,

In the Varney Chronicles I got threatened with death by Kevin and I still said his cues hit good!

Seriously, Kevin himself can be strenuous but he does good work and knows cues.

Most jump cue handles are in the 12 to 13 inch range, such as the Mace. I prefer mine closer to 18". Very seriously....I've had quality players who couldn't jump with any accuracy with the shorter handle...then they try mine with the longer handle and are amazed at the difference. Of course I'm speaking of players who jump with the normal stroke method...those who use the "dart" style may prefer shorter handles.

One nice thing about the J/B portion (at least on my cue).. if you unscrew the back portion (where the linen resides), you can attach it to the shaft and have a shorter jump cue that jumps really well. You basically get two different length jump cues... Works great for me :)

U know i thought about trying that with my jump break cue ..the shaft will screw onto the end of the jump break cue you remove..but i was afraid that jumping that way would damage the shaft i havent given that method a try.

Thank you gentlemen for the kind words.:)

There is no performance advantage to using the butt with the shaft instead of the jump handle. Actually it could hurt the jumping ability as that section is where most of the weight is....;) But hey...if it works for you then great!!!

Well, it works as well as it can Snorks. You are a lot of work!:D

Anyone who has seen Snorks jump, please do not consider that an indication of the true limits of his cue.:p

If Snorks can jump as well as he does with it, it MUST be a fantastic cue! Remarkable even.;)

Don't want to get into a heavy debate about it but the reason I designed the Bunjee Jumper way back when to have the lower portion of the butt fit the shaft was to allow for players to make the longer jump shots with more control.

Basically when the shot is a greater distance away then the object is to keep the cue ball low and be able to add power. When the shooter can be closer to their normal stroking position it is easier to control the cueball. This is the same principle as Stealth uses and also some jump break cuemakers who lengthen the jump handle portion.

So it really depends on the shot and the comfort level of the player as to which configuration is best for that shot. The short portion, 40-42" isn't always the best choice for every jump shot.
