Official Rules

Here are the official rules. If there are any problems just PM me.

1. Rack fifteen balls on the Foot Spot, in any order, and place the cue ball ON the Head Spot. Break the balls. If you miscue or miss the cue ball completely, it is a foul. Re-Rack, break again and subtract one from your score. If you miscue and contact the rack, you may choose to continue shooting, leaving the balls where they lie and not take a foul.

2. If you scratch on the break, it is a minus 1, unless the cue ball goes off the table, then it is a minus 2. After a scratch on the break, you may place the cue ball on either the Head Spot of Foot Spot and shoot any ball on the table, or place the cue ball anywhere behind the Head String and shoot any ball above the Head String. On the break, if you scratch or the cue ball goes off the table, all balls made on the break stay down but do not count as points. If you do not scratch on the break, then all balls made on the break count as one point each.

3. After the break, if you do not have a shot or do not like the shot you have, you may choose one of three options. (a) Place the cue ball anywhere behind the Head String and shoot any ball above the Head String. (b) Place the cue ball on either the Head Spot or the Foot Spot and shoot any ball.
(c) Place the rack over the cue ball (where it lies) and move the cue ball anywhere inside the rack and shoot any ball. All of the options noted above are a penalty and incur a minus 1.

4. After the break, whether you made a ball or not, proceed to shoot, calling each shot. Try to run the table, shoting the ball in any order UNTIL THERE ARE FIVE BALLS REMAINING. If you do pocket ten balls, then the last five balls must be shot IN ROTATION (in numerical order starting with the lowest number ball). If you MISS A SHOT, the rack is OVER. There are no second chances or mulligans! The first ten balls score 1 point each, and the last five balls score 2 points each. On each rack you can score a MAXIMUM of 20 points.

5. When there are six balls on the table and you pocket two or more balls in one shot, they all stay down and are each worth 1 point. Shoot the remaining balls in rotation, in which each ball is worth 2 points each.

6. Ten racks comprise a session. In one session you can score a maximum of 200 points. The score from FIVE SESSIONS (50 racks) determines your Official Rating. The highest possible Official Rating is a perfect score of 1000 points.

Here is the Rating System:

0-150 - Recreational Player
151-300 - Intermediate Player
301-450 - Advanced Player
451-600- Developing Pro
601-800 - Semi-Pro
801-900 - Pro
901-1000 - Touring Pro

You'll have to keep a running scorecard of each game and each session (10 games) for 5 sessions (50 games).

Remember, NO CHEATING. Cheaters will be banned, shunned, ostracized, criticized, bad-mouthed, and ass-whipped (as long as they are smaller than me).

Once you start your 10 rack sessions, you must count every single rack, NO MATTER WHAT!!!

I will start an OFFICIAL SCORE thread. Post your equipment specs and scores in the format indicated. Just edit your post each time you have more scores to add (no chat on that thread). Good luck to all of the posters with the gumption to participate, you are in the very upper echelon of pool fanatics (defined by enthusiasm, courage, and love of the game - NOT by skill level).

P.S. - To all those who are not participating, get your a## off this sub-forum, this place is for serious players, not girly-men.

We have women who post her too so it's not the place for boyly-women either!!

Dress Code?

I sure hope there isn’t a dress code in this shindig. I don't care about the guys but IMHO I think any women that elect to play should be able to play in whatever they want. The level of confidence and self esteem necessary to step up and compete by definition makes any woman that posts scores here HOT. If they so choose to play at their local pool hall wearing next to nothing while participating in this event, so be it. I think Willie should give a doctors note to the effect that it’s OK for them to wear whatever they want while participating in the Drivermaker Memorial Holiday Tournament anywhere, anytime worldwide.

Question?

What's to stop someone from posting insanely high scores that they didn't actually achieve?

I'm not accusing anyone, but I find it hard to believe that everyone here is a borderline pro except for me?

cheaters

Anyone with a score in question should post a link to a video clip. Continuous tape of 3-4 racks or so...That may help.

I can assure you cheating is impossible.

Last year I broke and did not like the cueball position immediately after the break so I relocated it in the kitchen. After I missed on the 9th ball I went to write my score down. Well I forgot the -1 penalty and wrote an “8” on my score sheet:o . Out of nowhere two of Drivermaker’s thugs jerked me out in the parking lot and thumped me with a predator shaft. I had lumps on my head into February. I think he hires retired Santa’s helpers, you know the ones that maintain the naughty/nice list. …man they are everywhere.

The voice of Drivermaker’s ghost addressed this very point over in the “Scores” thread recently.

(not really, I just made that story up, but remember the most important thing about the scores is that they are just for personal reference anyway. Hypothetically IF someone were actually able to get away with cheating (and that is a big IF) they would only be cheating themselves.) ;)

IMHO

Good Luck & Have Fun

When shooting in the last 5 balls does the lowest number ball have to be hit first? Can you shoot combos by hitting the lowest number ball first and make a higher number ball? Can you hit a higher number ball first in a combo and make the lowest?

Book-man,
Play the last 5 balls like call-shot 9-ball, BUT no combo's allowed. The lowest numbered ball MUST be struck first and pocketed in the intended pocket (slop DOESN'T count, unless you are playing in a world championship event - they have MUCH lower standards than the DMMHT). Failure to do this is end of rack. Good luck.
