Official WPC Site is Terrible

I have to say, with all due respect, that the WPC site sucks big time. They have been so far unable to provide brackets for the 64 as they gradually advance to the last 32 players. When matches are not on live score then they disappear with the result! Anyone who gets information not posted up on the putrid, horrid WPC website, please share with us!
Granted, Asia's got live TV coverage of the WPC but what about us, who live in a country where TV only covers hotdog-eating contests? And one wonders why the Asians have come to dominate a sport born on American soil?

By the way, an interesting site to see the WPC brackets minimumly updated is http:dev.laboreums.biz/contest/results.asp?comp=3000

I can't see any problem because the site will not let me log on. I have the login and password right, and it just pops me back to LOGIN, TRY2. It hasn't worked for me at all. I had no problem with the Mosconi Cup site.

To see WPC results

Bob, I was just reading one of your articles yesterday evening. Great stuff, as usual. But to get back to the WPC website, I don't think you have to log on to see the results, only to read the reports (which are no different from what you'll read at the Billiards Digest, or Inside Pool websites). If you just go to www.worldpoolchampionship.com/results_and_tables_last64.asp you should get the results.
Best wishes.

Site Does Not Suck

I think your problem is not going to the correct links on the site. I went on awhile ago to check and found two brackets of 64, one of which showed all results and one that had not been updated yet as it is a bracket that goes all the way out. The one with the results shows all players advancing to the 32 except for reyes and corteza match which was not posted at that time.

So I beg to differ, the site has been great.

Thanks Grem, I finally found the bracket. Just had to look a little deeper.

Have not seen any pics of Michaela though :D

I have to agree that the website is a little poor for such a prestigous event, if you click on the link of the guy who built it you might see why. Anyway, they do seem to be updating the site regulary which is great even though it could be made a bit more user friendly. I say Morris, Immonen will go far, dark horses are the lone brit Imran and the young spanish alcaide who has spent the last month in vegas!

Hey Mr Gremlin, can't see the luvely Mrs T?

I'd have to rate the WPC site as pretty good, but I had one problem. In past years, during round robin play, one could eyeball the standings for all 16 groups by scrolling down on a single page. This year, you had to click on each group individually. While having those standings pages with the match scores was nice, the old summary page of group standings for all groups should be restored for the 2005 event.

Agree with that, from a useability point of view that change was a disaster, it took a good half an hour to view all the groups, it was better the way it was, even if the page was huge.

The site isn't super or great or anything, however, it is adequate for what I want to know. The only thing that ticks me off is the alphabetical list of the players. They us first names to arrange them instead of last names. In doing a search on a player it take longer if you don't know the players first name. Not a biggie, but it should be changed. RJ

Just a thought

CTRL-F can be helpful.

It sure has some defects...... but its better than nothing.

Hauge is out, Drago is out..... Guess I gotta cheer for our neighbours now. Go Sweden!

Unsurprising...

As usual, there is something wrong with the WPC website, the results brackets have Kuo v Luat in the next round when the latter was eliminated by Kang. I wanted to write them to tip 'em off about the mistake but of course they have no contact info or comments area.
