First thanks for responding to this post!!

Here is were I am at. I have a Brunswick 9 foot that i just had set up 3 months ago. Wooonderful table..9 foot Medalist. The only thing the guys setting it up had to do was bolt on the slate..seal the cracks between the slates.. recover the table and rails with 860. Well the table played sweet ..kinda.. I was such a hurry to get it set up that i checked the rails and they "felt fine" and looked okay..but the table had set out in a shed for several years in pieces before i got it. I should have changed the rubber before i covered it..

My question is I now have to get some rubber, found a place that will sell me a set of speed rails for 175.00. The table has accufast rails on it now. What I want to know if i can reuse the almost new cloth on the rails to cover the new rubber or am i out of luck. Also does anyone know if you can just by the cloth to recover the rails with 860

thanks
so much

tony

You definitely won't be able to save the existing rail cloth, :( however, buying new cloth just for the rails should be no problem :)

Dartman can hook you up with some rail cloth I would think, if you went that route.

Your mechanic should have really said something to you. He had a really close up view while covering them! No worrys, you can buy a set of simonis rail cloth. The way cloth is pulled, then trimmed it would be a
nightmare and waste of time to try and save. Good luck!:)

Just curious because I've seen this before. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but aren't Accufast rails K66 profile? I know that's what you have them on it now but that doesn't necessarily mean they should be on there at all. I thought the medalist came with a different profile cushion other than K66. I'm sure someone here can tell you for sure whether it is actually K66 as accufast are or what it should have if it isn't K66. Just wouldn't want you to make the same mistake I did. Rails ain't cheap! Not to mention you don't want balls hopping or jumping rails. Please excuse me if I'm totally oof the mark but when you add up the $175 rails + labor + cloth cost, it pays to get it right the first time. Hope it all works out. Nice choice in tables too!!! Totally envious!

You are correct. Accufast cushion are k66 for 1 1/2 thick rails. They are definately wrong for that table unless the sub rail bevel has been altered. If if it is altered the play field will not be the correct 50" x 100". I would bet there is nothing wrong with the accufast cushions. He should change the cushions to a k55 profile and send me the accufast cushions.:p

Also worth nothing that the Accufast cushions are a lifetime guarantee rubber. They should not go bad, even after storing them for a while. You should definitely hang on to them when you get the right profile put on the table. Someone could for sure cut them down to fit an 8' footer, if not still use them on a 9'. Good luck!

hmmm...wonder if the sub-rail bevel was changed to mount the accufast rails....because if it was, K55 cushions are no longer going to mount to the rails correctly, unless it's modified once again;)

THe guy that i talked to At Longs Billiards in Newport News, told me that the Brunswick tables have a specific rail that goes on them. The rails are just not live. They dont sound dead..like a dead rail does with that tump sound..it that the ball does not rebound they way they should..now it could be due to having the accufast rails on the table and it being the wrong profile.

The brand that he was going to sell me is the Superspeed. What can i do to check the profile of the rail ..i never paid attention to the relationship of the ball against the rail and to see just where the rubber makes contact with the ball. I just know you have to hit the ball harder on my table to get the action you want. If i go to the local pool hall I can really see the diffrence because i have to adjust to the action that their rails have in comparison to mine.

Wow...you know what.. since typing the last post i just thought of something. On my table ...(My buddy cant stand this) you can shot a long shot to the corner pocket and the ball can touch the rail near the pocket and the ball will still play. The rail doesnt send the ball away from the pocket. I mean it could be three ball lengths from the pocket where it hits the rail and still goes in. Maaan im gona end up taking my rails off tonight..damn.. I hate not being able to play..but i want it to be as tough of a table to play on as i can get to sharpen up my game.

Not to duplicate what's already been said but you'll have a tough time trying to reuse the rail cloth once trimmed.
You can give us a call (888-563-2787) for just a rail set.

Accufast is a k66 profile but Brunswick calls for k55.
As RKC mentioned your subrails may have been modified to make the k66 work.
If that's the case you'd need to remodify to make superspeeds fit correctly.
If you think the table plays well with the k66 then probably best to stay with that profile and just replace them.

I can put you on artemis for the same price as the superspeeds.
If you choose to call us for the rail set mention this thread and we can further discuss the cushion situation.

Thanks for the link that really really helps... I was feeling under the rail last night and can feel a gap were the rubber and rail should meet. Almost like a "speed bump" I am gona take some pictures of my rails with a ruler and post it here...and the relationship of the rail to a ball..thanks so much guys..

If the cushion is flush with the top of the rail and you have a "speedbump" at the bottom with accufast
you'll get a bigger speedbump with superspeeds or any k55. Post the pics.
