Okay Let Discuss Why There No USBA Hall of Fame.. For 3Cushion Players???????

I know, since I'm not a USBA Member... What does it matter!!!

Except for the Love of the Game, and it History.

I myself could not tell anyone how many or the name of the different associations or organizations 3 Cushion Billiard have in the USA, since it started.

Who would you put in a USBA Hall of Fame??? I don't care if you name 1 or 20 names!

Either the Champion of Champion Event at Allen Hopkin Super Billiard Expo (SBE) or USBA 3Cushion National Champion event ... would be the time to hold an USBA Hall of Fame Ceremony.

And Dam .. I don't want to read / or hear anything about money. We know that needed. But USBA first got to agree on a Hall of Fame.

What The New USBA President and USBA Director got to say ??

Simply Yea Or Nay.

Roll Call Time

USBA President If you are Luking .. Please Register with AZBilliards Forum
and voice your thought on this matter. That go for any USBA Director not AZBilliard Members..Period>>>> IN your Ball Field...

billiarshot,

Assuming you are sincere and truely want an answer and are not just fishing.....here ya go....and I'm not saying you have to like my answer.

The BCA has inducted several 3C players to the Hall of Fame. To name a few

Raymond Ceulemans (2001)
Welker Cochran (1967)
Alfredo DeOro (1967)
Willie Hoppe (1966)
Sang Chun Lee (2007)
Jake Schaefer, Sr. (1968)
Jake Schaefer, Jr. (1968)
Harold Worst (1972)

How many Hall Of Fames does one need?
Straight Rail Hall of Fame?
Bumper Pool Hall of Fame?
Hall of Fame for the Hall of Fames?

With all the work that needs to get done, many believe the USBA Hall Of Fame would be redundant at best and frivolous at worst.

I'm not saying I necessarily agree nor am I saying you are wrong by asking or for wanting one.

Is this a valid argument?

Zensteve... USBA Board Members have the final decision on anything within the USBA.

A USBA Hall of Fame.. to honor outstanding people who, through their competitive skills and dedication, have enriched our sport and industry, when other organization fail to recognized.

For example .. Allen Gilbert or Carlo Hallon.

Were there any 3C player name brought up for BCA HOF this year??

Zensteve.. you forgot Larry "Boston Shorty" Johnson inducted 1999 from your list above.

Bob,

I, for one, believe that the USBA should have its own Hall of Fame. Many have argued against it, citing that the BCA already has one and recognizes 3-cushion players. I disagree, and feel that 3-cushion players are extremely under-represented in the BCA Hall of Fame, and rightfully so, since there are literally hundreds of thousands of pool players (or more) and a handful of 3-cushion players.

The USBA appointed George Theobald and Bob Byrne to the Hall of Fame Committee and they responded that they felt that the USBA Hall of Fame should only represent the "modern" 3-cushion age and NOT include the likes of Willie Hoppe, etc. whom have already been elected to the BCA Hall of Fame.

Thus, the Board of Directors have discussed this issue and have pretty much agreed with them. The USBA Hall of Fame is supposed to be located at Carom Cafe in New York but I must work out arrangements with Michael Kang before we bring it back to the Board for an official vote.

The first-year's requirements for induction are that the player must have 3 US National Championships under his/her belt. Can you name these potential initial Hall of Fame Inductees?

Hint: There are 6 names.

Very well put Jim S. I believe I name one of the six name.

Here what was written in Billiards Digest.. about the new BCA HOF, Especially " German star Ralf Souquet " I'm glad to see, Ralf Souquet made the BCA HOF.

Souquet becomes the first European male player to be elected to the BCA Hall of Fame. In addition to being a dominant presence on the Euro Tour for two decades,

http://www.billiardsdigest.com/new_news/display_article?id=1400

The above statement is totally wrong.... But would be correct, if stated: first European male Pool Player.

Because :Raymond Ceulemans
1937 - Present
Inducted 2001

Was the first European male player to be elected to the BCA Hall of Fame

RAYMOND CEULEMANS of Rijmenan, Belgium, is the greatest all-around carom player the world has ever seen. He won his first European championship in three-cushion in 1962, and except for 1972 when he didn't compete, won the title 21 times in a row. In 1963, he won his first world championship and proceeded to win 17 out of the next 18 world tournaments that he entered. He is an all-around performer in carom games, holding at various times world titles in straight-rail, 47/1, balkline, Pentathlon and cushion caroms. His more than 100 major titles gave rise to his nickname "Mr. 100," which is also the title of his textbook explaining his three-cushion system, written in English, Dutch, French, German, Spanish and Japanese. He is a national hero in Belgium and one of the most famous sportsmen in Europe. Whenever he walks into a billiard room in Europe, the U.S., Japan or Latin America, he receives a well-deserved round of applause. Known everywhere as an ambassador of billiards, he has done as much as any person in the last hundred years to elevate the game to new standards of professionalism and sportsmanship.

Jim if USBA#1NonMember have a vote it would be yea.

Bob,

I will inform the Board of Directors that the #1 non-member approves.

Bill,

You're no fun! I was hoping that everyone would be trying desperately to figure out who those 6 players were.

Wait a minute Jim Shovak/Bill Smith... Wouldn't Jim Shovak earlier statement below..
Disqualifed Sang Lee From the list of 6 Names. As He already a BCA HOF inducted 2007.

Jim Shovak said...The USBA appointed George Theobald and Bob Byrne to the Hall of Fame Committee and they responded that they felt that the USBA Hall of Fame should only represent the "modern" 3-cushion age and NOT include the likes of Willie Hoppe, etc. whom have already been elected to the BCA Hall of Fame.

By the modern age, I guess they meant from about 1968 to the present if I am not mistaken.

Also, Sang Lee was around during the official USBA years which started sometime in the 1980's, I believe.

Thanks Jim S. for the clarification, because USBA HOF wouldn't be complete without Sang Lee in it.
