Final questions ?

These may have been covered but here goes...

1) Double elimination ? (If yes, race to 9 on both sides ?)

2) Alt. break and alt. pay for table time ?

3) Is the field limited to 64 ? How many have paid to play as of today ?

4) Tables are 7 footers ?

5) Are service animals allowed in ? I was thinking about bringing my monkey. J/K.;)

Thanks.

Tournament Results

Well, we did not have the turn out we had hoped for. We had two players come up from Dallas, Chen and Charlie we appreciate you coming up. So we had a total of 31 players. Tournament paid 6 places.

1st $1700 Joey Gray
2nd $1400 Chip Comptom
3rd $1000 Rocky Biswell
4th $600
5/6th $275

I would like to say thank you to Bill(the owner of Jamica Joes) for putting on this tournament. Hopefully if you put on another tournament we can get a few of the players in the surrounding areas to make a trip to OKC.

If any of you players are interested in how good this tournament is compare the pay outs to any Midwest 9 Ball Tour event. Do the math and see how much money is taken out of those tournaments in director fees.

I live in Duncan, OK...which is about an hour south of OKC...
and all the big players down here talk about Jamaica Joes as the place to go.

I'm just waiting until I have time off work to go. According to the "OK Winners" magazine, they have monthly(or is it weekly?) tournaments.

I personally like the top heavy payouts, but to bash tournament directors for getting paid is counter productive. Without tournament directors like Danny & Evelyn and many others there would be very few events to pick from! It's great that Bill wants to put these tournaments on for free, but if Bill wasn't making any money he wouldn't be doing it long! I'll support these pool promoters every chance I get!!! You know what? I actually get flyers in my mail and e-mails and even phone calls from "promoters".....I appreciate them and will gladly pay there "fees"!!

You don't have to do the math.

The registration fee is posted on every flyer and schedule that is mailed or posted. The Midwest 9-Ball Tour puts on 16 to 20 tournaments a year in the Midwest area. There are NO yearly membership fees, which most tours have. We travel hundreds of miles over the Midwest area. We book all of the tournaments, find sponsors (so we can give product to the pool room to help them re-group some of the added money (anywhere from $2500 to $5000 Added events). Mail flyers to players and pool rooms to promote the sport and the event. As a matter of fact, flyers for your tournament at Jamaica Joe's was laid out at our event in Olathe, unlike some people we are trying to promote the sport of billiards for everyone. We spend anywhere from 40 to 70 hours a week-end directing and running the event. We time the events, for the players convenience. We run Friday night mini-tournaments, at most events, at no charge to the player or the pool room

We are at each event from the time the first players signs up, until the last ball falls in the pocket. Are you suggesting that I do this work for nothing, do you work and not get paid?

If you think we are overpaid, don't play.

Evelyn,, You and Danny do great work!! It often is a thankless job and those who bash the TD/Promoter usually have never tried it themselves.

Being a great TD often involves much more than drawing names, placing them on the brackets, and calling out matches. Everyone knows you guys run a tight ship and treat everyone fairly and equally.

You are certainly welcome to send us fliers at any of our events and I'll be more than happy to put them "out there" for you guys.

Keep up the good work.

Lewis Jones

Hey Lewis,
Thanks

It is always a pleasure to have you and your group come to our events.

Mail me some of your flyers for the Fast Eddie's Tour and I will be happy
to put them out at our events. You and I know both know, when everyone
works together it generates more interest in the sport and that is good
for everyone.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Hope to see you soon.

I'll get you some as soon as I get next years schedule approved.

So true, we are all foolish not working together.
Keep up the good work and happy holidays to you both.

Paid or unpaid tournament directors, as long as there are tournaments with big turnouts, I can care less; without TDs, there wouldn't be any tournaments to play. Period. Take a look at Austin, pool is dead.

Go get'em Evelyn. You and Danny do a WORLD CLASS job running the Midwest 9-ball Tour. If idiots don't like the way that you run them or the fees that you hold out them they can just go down to the local tavern and enter the friday night 8-ball tourny that pays $50.00 to win and then pay your $30.00 bar tab. Speeking for myself, I appreciate what you guys are doing for the pool world. Keep up the great work. See ya soon
