Now THAT is how a quality shaft should look like, love that grain cut. My 90s Joss had that type of shaft wood and everyone that tried it told me it was one of the best hitting Joss cues they ever tried.

Good guess. The bumper is odd but who knows?
Abe used a variety of joint screws, including 5/16-18, 5/16-14 and 3/8-10.

That screw and collar are Brunswick stock, the pin was then trimmed a bit. Rich did that often in the early stuff.

Palm maybe, I have seen many variations of Wenge also but the darker streaks dont quite fit.

Aha, I think you're right...had one when I was a kid.
....never knew if it was from NYC or Florida.

The bumper is damaged and the remaining material looks like laminated paper.

Naturally the but is thick and the wood looks to be one piece. At least 17oz. by itself.

i'm thinking along the lines of an abe rich cue rather than a richq.

I don't think its palm. I think since the grain is exposed its filled up with dust, chalk, dirt...you name it. That's whats giving it that short streaked palm look. If you were to clean this cue up I don't think you would see those short streaks at all.

It is plugged with another wood. They often do that with black palm
