Old Gina

I have a friend who became the owner of a old, late 70's maybe Gina. Someone told him it was worth about $6,000.00 . No Ivory, nothing really great looking about the stick. Just wondering if what they told him is correct. I know a picture of it would be helpful, but I don't have one yet. Just don't know if he ever built one in that price range.---Smitty

$6K is a pretty good amount if there was nothing exceptional about it but since I own an old Gina, I'd like it to be true. Ernie's early work is highly sought after. Most good examples, especially if they are one of his first 100 cues, are worth several thousand to the right buyer, even if it won't fetch $6K.

I believe all of Ernie's cues bear the Ginacue badging so I would be suspect if it doesn't say Ginacue right on it. Back then, before Ernie came out of retirement to make cues again, his cues were badged with the full name "Ginacue". Even if it does bear the name, there are forgeries around. Obviously he is not the original owner or he would know for sure.

Please post pictures when you get them, they would be very helpful.

You'll probably get more responses to this query if you post it in the wanted/for sale section. Even if the cue is not for sale, that crowd will be able to help you put a reasonable value on it.
