Am installing it on my own shaft.
After removing the old one and tried fitting in the Schon ferrule ( old one a 3/16 long 5/16 shoulder and .280 with 18tpi thread less bullet for thread clearance ) I was shocked the Schon ferrule did not even get close to bottoming out.
The cap was close to 3/8th thick. Was this the secret to the old Schon hit?
The deflection police now would have fits.
I bottom end-milled it ( .250 four flute ) so I can get around 3/4 tenon up there and leave the cap around 1/4 thick.
Also the Schon ferrule had a very short shoulder hole at the bottom. I bottom endmilled it 5/16 by about 3/16 deep.
The bleed hole is dead nuts center when I screw it on .
Will glue tonite and hopefully test this soon.
