Like a lot of others on here i started 'pre-simonis' and would love to see an event using the old Mali/Stevens-style rug along with wood triangle racks. No jump cues either. Don't get me wrong i love modern pool, cloth and all the new tech but an event like this would be fun as hell to sweat. Takes???

Yup. They do it with golf with the hickory club tournaments.

Clay balls (if that's even possible), old cloth, 5lb logs for pool cues, etc.

It’ll never happen

Great idea, I've had the same thought. The standard shafts and no jump cues being a big part of it too. When I played at VNEA Nationals last year, a lot of the tables had a blue nappy cloth on them. A lot of folks complained but I liked it. It was a little weird going back and forth, though. I'm not sure what that cloth was but you could try contacting VNEA. Don't know if Mali is still around. That would be more nostalgic. :)
