I'd watch that. Pretty sure Simonis was around when I started playing, at least seriously, but I'd still be interested in watching.

I have a strong appreciation for the modern tech, carbon shafts, screw on extensions, etc. But also have a lot of love for a good classic wood cue, traditional maple shaft, and everything that comes with it.

1. no jump cues
2. shoot out (or minimum of one or two allowed each player per rack)
3. wood rack and you get to put the balls in with the rack on the rail. then one push forward to the spot and remove the rack.
opponent gets to make you do it once over, if he so chooses.
4. balls can be cleaned with rag and water, but not polished in any way.

pretty much but 8ball. too bad IPT was run by a convicted fraudster pos. was a great idea. we had qualifiers at my home spot in Tulsa.

i don't know, IPT was neither better or worse because of the cloth as i remember it. the modern players adapted quickly and the winners were the usual suspects at the time. but i might still watch an event like this because i like variance in general. pinoys would be favorites because they play more on slow tables than others

There's no place for a H in school. Furthermore, why the hell is there no k in stomach?
As a general rule, during the English Renaissance, there were efforts made to change spelling of specific words to make their Greek and Latin origins more evident, whether those extra letters were "pronounced" or not.

As someone who has studied German, let me tell you this is very much appreciated, as there are a ton of words with common roots to similar English words, and if English took the "expediency" of dropping unpronounced letters, then it becomes much harder to associate those words when learning another "Romance" language.

Example:

English - "School" - pronounced "SKOOL"

German - "Schule" - pronounced "SHOO-LA"

Because of those efforts to retain more Greek and Latin spelling elements.. it is very clear these words are associated. If English were to drop the "H", then it would not be nearly so evident.

Oh.. And something else to think about... American English is somewhat "bastardized" on the grand scale of things. We don't adhere to many British English pronunciations that would make the words adhere much closer to their etymological histories.

I wasn't being serious but thanks.

wow. seriously??? the whole idea would be old-school simple without these 'anal add-ons'.

BTW folks this is just a 'what if' deal, this isn't happening at least not by me. Running a tournament is akin to herding cats, i'd rather have a root canal. Good to see the number of people who at least dig the basic idea.

An event like this would be music to my ears. I purchased a new TV three months ago or so, it’s a Samsung. It’s got these pre-programmed channels on it that I don’t fully understand, but one of them happens to be a billiards channel. 24 hours a day, all modern events. Last night I watched a 10 ball event from 2024 in Dubai or something. I’m giving credit where credit is due, the new game is definitely technically brilliant. But it is about as boring as it gets. And lame… lame shirts, lame gloves, everybody quiet, nerds etc. No action. All the pool I watch is Accu stats stuff no later than 1995, so I’d love to see an event with high deflection wood shafts, thick cloth, and Brunswick gold crown three tables. Let’s get some personalities in there for crying out loud.
