I have an old Meucci cue which I have owned many years. I think I got it in the late 80's but I'm 79 and my memory ain't what it once was. It has 2 shafts and a stainless joint. It has Meucci Original on the butt. I gave up the game soon after getting the cue and just started playing again this year. I would sure appreciate any info info on the cue.

I also have a vintage Meucci cue that reads "Meucci Original" on the butt. I sent a picture of mine to Meucci and they got back to me quickly advising that it is a 1983 model, etc. Try contacting Meucci if no one can help you here.

Are you considering selling it?

In top shape it's about a $400 cue today.

You can get a cue maker/repair person do a cleanup on the wrap to make it a nice cue for you again, from the pics it looks like it could use a cleaning. If you keep the chalking to brushing just the actual tip with the chalk it will keep away the blue ring around the ferrule also :)

Curious as to why you need info on the cue? You are 79 and using the cue to play pool- why do you need "info" on that cue? Exactly what "info" would you need. Guy above just gave you model number and estimated value today as a seller. I suspect we will see this for sale very soon somewhere. I am not buying your story old Sparky- just tell us that you received this cue somewhere and that you are looking for it's value to sell it.

So over 30 years ago you decided to play pool- went out and bought a fairly expensive cue at the time- even bought an extra shaft for it- and joint protectors and a 1X2 case, then just gave up the game, it sat, and now 30+ years later you can't remember anything about the cue, want to play pool again, and for some ODD reason- need to KNOW about the cue??

Nice cue, back when Meucci built good cues. I can’t tell you what year it’s built, I’d guess early 80’s. I’d change the tips, wipe it down and play with it. It’s a nice cue

When did Meucci stop making good cues. I have purchased two Meucci cues in the last year, a Sky Woodward for my son and a Sneaky Pete for myself, both with Carbon Pro CF shafts. I've been pretty well satisfied with both.

Good looking cue.

Sounds like you haven't used it much so I'm guessing the picture quality is why it looks crappy, or it was used when you bought it and that's why you don't know much about it.

Take some better pictures (please and thanks), I would like to see those points, I bet they pop in the right light.

Oh, and disregard mikemosconi, he apparently woke up on the wrong side of the bowl of cereal this morning ;)

You REALLY think this is a true story? Come on! the guy obviously thought that if he just asked for value he may not get a response- but the did not know that good folks here WOULD respond to legit requests on market value. I just don't buy the old man story- sorry- and forgetting everything about the only cue he has owned in 40 years? - he said he played for a while and put it away- I just don't like B.S. stories- if I am wrong then I'll be the jack ass here- so be it.

I love the cue, though, and it would sell in a heartbeat on any site! My apologies to OLD SPARKY if he is just a 79 YO who forgot what he bought.

I'm not arguing your thoughts/theory (we all have our reasons), I just think you went about it the wrong way.

What if he is just a normal guy who could eventually become a contributing member here but your post keeps him away. I know it's no skin off your back, nor mine, but it's nice to have people with varied opinions in all discussions, no reason to run them off...yet :)

Also he didn't actually ask about the value of the cue. He was just wanting to know more about it.
 
Wow, lots of comments. Thanks for the info,. I was curious about the age and value. I don't want to sell it but the tips were bad and the man who replaced the tips said the wrap had been replaced. According to him the original wrap was coated and mine was not. He thought it might be valuable and I was told this site would be a good place to check. I live in a retirement community and we have 2 tables, one 8' and a 9' table. I had to give up golf and started playing pool again after many years. I nearly fainted at the price of tips these days. Good luck guys and thanks again.

I think there is an option to get the wrap uncoated from Meucci but it may have been replaced, really no way to know outside from the owner(s) unless you can find the purchase order for it. Those models did hold value pretty well, they are probably still around the original purchase price, in very good condition. Having two original shafts with it helps, and if that wrap was replaced and is Cortland it may even be more desirable.

You should be able to get a Le Pro or Triangle tip installed for around $15.
If that's too much we can set up a go fund me account.
