What do you guys think about the Equipment?

Higher runs than with Diamond?

Higher than if they had Gold Crown? Probably not.

New Brunswick, New Jersey- Two of the biggest brands in America and Asia will be used together for the first time ever. Olhausen Tables and Andy Cloth have been named the Official Table and Cloth of the 71st World Tournament of 14.1. Their products will premiere on the big stage of the biggest straight pool tournament in the world at the Dragon Promotions & Dr.Michael Fedak produced event. It all takes place on August 28- September 2, 2011 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in New Brunswick, New Jersey. The tables and cloth will be played on by the most recognised and artistic 14.1 masters alive with the likes of Oliver Ortmann, Johnny Archer, Thorsten Hohmann, Niels Feijen, Allen Hopkins, Stefan Cohen and many more straight pool stars.

“We at Olhausen are extremely pleased at being the official table of the 71st World Tournament. Straight pool has a long tradition in the United States and while extremely popular in other countries; its roots are still here with the American fans. We pride ourselves at Olhausen for making our tables in the USA, and that the greatest players in the world will be coming here to play straight pool, the father of all pool games", said Donny Olhausen, Founder and owner of Olhausen Tables.

Dennis:

I'm thinking the runs will be higher than with Diamond, but not higher than Gold Crowns. I've played on Olhausens before -- Boston Billiards (where I used to be the league administrator at, had a couple Olhausens in the VIP rooms), and at Charlie Eames' room. If setup correctly, they are indeed good tables. My only "gripe" (if you want to call it that) is the resoundingly loud "plastic-ey" sound of the pockets when a ball drops in them. It's sort of an amplified "Futrtrtrrrrrr!!" fluttering-type sound, that, IMHO, sounds like a cue ball being dropped into an empty spackle bucket.

Hopefully the tables will be of the ball-return variety, and not the drop-pocket variety. It's great to have the support of both Olhausen and Andy Cloth in this great sport of ours -- 14.1!

Thanks for posting this,
-Sean

Guess they just want to have the table I have at home. I suspect the runs will be significantly bigger than those I manage.

I agree with the sentiments already expressed about Olhausen. What a great American table manufacturer and very good people to deal with.
Both Donny and Larry are easy to work with.

Let's get behind Olhausen tables and support them. It doesn't get much better than 14.1 and great equipment.

Good luck to all,

Steve( the carom guy that loves 14.1 )
