WTF is with the undercover spy writer schtick anyhow....?

The cool thing about the anonymity is that it makes the focus less about "her" and more about the things that she's observing. It's almost the same as the whole screen name thing we do here. It makes each post stand on the merit of it's content rather than the merit of who's making the post.

I understand the question, but really, why be any more suprised that she is protecting her personal identity more than any of us? :D

I think the anonymity thing is overblown a bit.

If you mean overblown here where nearly everyone is using an alias, yeah, I would agree. :D

I don't think she's really trying or even needs to keep her identity a super duper top secret so much as she doesn't want it to be a routine part of the blog. More of a practical operational thing the way I see it.

I hope you're kidding. She's a good witty writer, and pretty talented. And when she talks, it's just like her blog. And these odd things do happen to her. She's met entirely too many people at events at this point for anyone to doubt her authenticity. So, I assume you're kidding.

Fred

he's kidding. this lad made a few bucks on take on me a few decades ago, and now he's hunting hi & lo for more action. you gotta play'em, gotta play'em.

Out here in NC nothing happened to her in 3 days and 4 pool halls. Not one "sapp". Noone hit on her. Nothing out of the ordinary and didnt cuss out anyone or threaten their balls. The only thing was someone mistook her from behind for another girl of the same size. Then again it's just her stories. Great to read but nothing to validate or invalidate them.

If they're true though (not the tournament fashion reports or recipes), but if her personal stories are true then the west sure is scary. I mean female bus thugs threatening her to steal her cue, her chasing a guy through a field with a knife, telling peopel to go f*ck themselves nonstop, threatening to kick people in the balls, how current events relates to her in some way like the evil kanevil comparison, etc. etc. I consider myself lucky since I've been on business trips out there before and luckily escaped without any issues.

I personally preferred the older writings she did like womens thought translations, things you wouldnt know about movies, jerry seinfeld questions, vehicle representations etc. were great.

It's still a great blog but seems like a fiction novel when it's not covering a big tournament event although I'm sure the stories are 100% accurate.

Anyone else see the irony here?

Seriously.

Exactly. It's nothing more than this, really.

And then one day, someone on here said, "who is this girl?" And it snow-balled from there. It's not like she's trying to be all secretive. Who she is doesn't matter when we're reading her observations.

Nothing's original. We even had a forum poster with the name.

Well, you're a dude.

I think it all boils down to sex, pool and attitude. If you or I walk into a pool hall and start banging balls, no one's going to walk over and bother us (unless he wants to gamble). Sure as hell, no one's gonna try to pick us up or get into our pants. And if you're the average, 6ft tall white guy walking down the street at night all by your lonesome, the lone mugger around the corner probably isn't going to bother you (unless he's packing). But if you're a young, petite chick in high heels with a purse slung around one shoulder and a cue case on the other, that mugger's gonna be thinking, "damn! it must be my birthday!"

I'm just saying that omgwtf by being small, female and relatively attractive, exacerbated by her penchant of hanging out in pool halls, is going to attract a lot more unwanted attention any given week than you or I will in half of our lifetime. What makes her life events partiicularly unique comes back to attitude. Most women (particularly of omgwtf's stature) that I know of, when alone and confronted by a persistent unwanted suitor/mugger, will be demure/give up the purse. It's just not in omgwtf's nature to be a victim (no matter the situation) so the resolutions will be different than expected and make for good stories.

I started reading the latest blog at work on Safari and continued at home on Firefox. And tried IE as well for the reason that at home the margins of the page are strange. While on Safari three or two pictures fit in a row, on Firefox(IE) the last pic goes below. And large pics like with Derek and Incardona in the end, which have written text, are cut on the right side so the text is unreadable.
Any advice? What could be the reason for it? Could it be lower screen resolution at home (800x600 I suppose)?

OMGWTF Derby blog is up

http://www.bankingwiththebeard.blogspot.com/

So is Freddy the Beard's site. Freddy has movie clips, links, an enormous blog and lots of cues, books, DVDs and pool memorabilia for sale.

There's a section on the late great Bugs Rucker and a clip of one of Rucker's favorite killer banks being made.

There's too much stuff to mention in a short note. Take a look, you might find something you like.

Freddy's freewheeling blog shows that pool players give a hoot about something besides chalking up and sinking balls.
