On Ebay now - Anyone tried these?

Has anyone tried these out, and do you like them?

I saw Evgeny using one a few years ago. It just "rolled" onto the cue, and stored easily as a donut in his case. I think he used it because he could cover part of the butt sleeve with it and grip there (sort of like creating "grip zone" that was longer than his wrap area).

It might also be beneficial for wrapless cues.

I've never seen anyone else using one, but would like to hear other comments as well.

I have used one many times on my sneaky pete cues. The only problem I find with them is that you must remove it everytime you want to put your cue in your cue case. in the late 80's early 90's lots of players at Hardtimes in Bellflower CA were using them, not sure if that is still the case. All in all I like the grip that they provide, for the price try one out if you don't like it throw it in the can.

I bought a few of them for a buddy that lost his hand in a indrustrial accident. The mechanical hook that he used as a hand replacement really tore up the cues. I thought that these would help. The hook just tore them up.

I then used one to try and protect my Predator BK. The paint kept chipping off and I thought it was from hitting the metal band around the table when breaking. I found out the the problem was due to the quality of the finish. Took the cover off because it added weight and made the cue look dorkier than it was. The other problem is the butts are tapered and the sleeves aren't so they are tight on one end and loose on the other.

I don't see any need or purpose for them.

i was looking to put a leather wrap on a cue, talked to m webb and he sent me one of those for free (great guy) to try and see if i liked the feel. I liked it, played with it on my cue but it eventually tore and ripped. worked good for me, going with a leather wrap now

i remember Warren Kiamco used it last year in an Asian 9 Ball Tourney. And i believe these are pretty commonly used by 3 cushion players.. perhaps Deno can shed some light?

They are common among billiard players.
Earl even had one on his break cue.
I had one and I no liked it.

These are very popular with 3c players, because you are sometimes hitting a larger diameter ball much harder than you do in pocket billiards....

Yes, you have to take it off everytime you put your cue away in the case! It's such a hassle. I see a lot of people that play 3 cushion (carom) billiards on their cue. It gives them a better grip on the cue.

I've used it...didn't like it too much.

The $4 price is not too bad, though I don't remember what the shipping was on eBay.

It all really depends upon what you like in a grip/wrap set up. They're really popular here in Japan, but in general, they're favored by players that like to 'hold' their cue. I'm more of a slip stroke type player, and that grip doesn't allow for any movement at all.
If you like a pretty firm grip without any slippage at all, it's a very affordable option.
And yes, you need to remove it every time before placing your cue in your case or else you'll have a hell of a time getting your cue out of your case.

You won't have to take the grip off constantly if you use one of those case where it can hold up to 4 cues and 8 shafts. The cases open up like a book when you unzip all the way around. Porper makes them...

I use one and like it. I have a box case so I don't have the problems you have trying to put them in a tube case. The $4.00 is a little high. I bought mine from Muellers for less.
