On The Road Again with Perfect Aim....

One of the things I have noticed about my own ability to play well is that I regularly go back to old habits without even noticing. A few missed balls and I start searching for answers. Sometimes it is as simple as PERFECTING your aim and other times finding out what you are doing wrong or what you are not doing is about as elusive as looking for a needle in a haystack.

And for some of us, we don't even know what we are doing wrong. The other day, I was playing one of our best rotational players nine ball and he was the bug and I was the windshield for a change, then all of a sudden he quit missing balls. What changed? He quit raising up on his shot. That's it, nothing more. Even when the guy raises up, he barely moves so he still plays good when he barely moves. It is a challenge to discover and correct the things that are wrong with your game. Sometimes, when you can't figure it out, you just need someone who knows, just watching you play.

Great advice...........

This loose tip thing had me just about standing on my head to try and correct things.

Why am I not getting the spin one time and not the other?

Why am I not getting the correct speed?

Why does my tip seem to feel too hard on some shots and too soft on other shots?

Why does the shaft kind of sound like a cracked piece of wood when I chalk my tip?

I hadn't been playing as much as I should have so I am blaming my shooting on that. Not getting enough sleep was another reason I was maybe not playing so good.

One thing you stated here I was doing. Not staying down.

There were other things also. My whole routine was out of wack. When the things you do easily just don't work it's really frustrating.

Today I will be playing tonight and I will be going through my check list of technique. it's a list of about 10 things I check when I have trouble. I had already went through this about 4 times in the last week but with no luck.

Tracy at side pockets replaced this tip and I was getting out from everywhere. It was like night abd day.

It doesn't matter how good of a tip you have, if it's loose it will not do the things you want it to do.

I'm buying another 314-2 shaft today so I can just switch shafts if the one starts playing bad. This will help me tell when it is just a loose tip.

Thanks for the input there Joey.

I want to give you a big thanks, Geno, for helping me out in Tunica.

I'm the guy with the double-vision issue that has to close an eye to play.

Short story long, Geno helped me figure out my dominant eye situation.......getting my body into the right position during the pre-shot routine and getting my head in the correct place when I get down on a shot.

It's still a bit of a struggle, but I'm definitely making more shots, especially shots that I really wasn't making before. It's going to take more practice, but that's pool, right?

And as crazy as it sounds.....I've ALWAYS looked at the CB last when I shoot. I didn't know that there was any other way before I joined this forum.

I actually made my first conscious shots in my life.....looking at the OB last.....with Geno's help. Any other time I ever tried it, I would miscue or almost jump the ball off the table. I was really out of whack.

Now THAT fundamental change is a huge struggle for me to get past, but I'm trying to ease into it a bit at a time.

On top of all of this, Geno showed me an aiming system that blew my mind. I'm still trying to work it out, so I'm going to revisit his video, as his on-hands instruction made the DVD make more sense. I honestly probably won't use it for every shot as I have my own aiming thing, but it would definitely help for the odd shots where it's something that my mind just hasn't seen before. And it's always good to have specialty tools in the 'box. ;)

For those that haven't tried him.....Geno is nice as pie. I think he could solve some problems for lots of people. What would it hurt, really?

FWIW, I watched Gene shoot in the Southern Classic and in some "friendly" non-tournament games. He would probably have to give me the 6 out. Lol. He laid the hammer down on a few people from this board. I'll name no names.

Looking forward to meeting you again, Geno, and maybe getting a brush-up on what we went over.

Not to mention, I owe you a lunch. I'll probably be up for a (very) cheap set too, as a donation to the road cause would be the least I could do.

Hi there and thanks for the great post,

I didn't know if i could help. glad things turned out OK.

Too bad we didn't do that dinner , it would have been fun to talk some more. It's always fun to meet players from the forum.

Looking forward to our next encounter.

Last 2 lessons tomorrow........

One at the Rack and one at High Pockets but that could change.

I might end up staying another day or 2. it seems like when I'm going to leave they all want to do it all of a sudden.

The good news is the Tournament at High Pockets. $3000 for first, team tourny was and is a great success. These guys know how to get it done.

I talked to most of the Perfect Aim customers and they all had rave reviews for how Perfect Aim worked under the pressure.

It's so much fun to come back to an area that I gave some lessons to and see the good results.

Don't know where I'm going next. Have no definite plans.

Just no smoke............

Ohio looks like a winner. Gonna mosie that way i think..........

Illinois is on the way last time I looked.........

One man, a van and the road..........

In Cape Girardeau right now........

Hi there John,

I owe Eric Durbin a Perfect Aim lesson. He's the club pro at the billiards Center in Cape.

Lesson paid for and we could never hook up while I was there, Eric was always in action. Either playing pool or with a girlfriend. Both good situations.

I have about 5 players to work with here also.

There is a tournament I think this next weekend in Ohio. I want to get over there and be out of this smoke. I want my health back.

I'd like to go play in the one at Shooters in Olathe but that is still a smokers paradise. So sad. great poolhall and great owner, Dan Tull. Needs to get rid of the smoke.

Breathing in that smoke is a slow death even the second hand stuff.

If I can get done with these in time i'll swing over to St Louis. No promises but a big maybe.

Thanks again Geno........

Great day today for Perfect Aim....

The team tourny at High Pockets in memphis was handicapped.

The team from Memphis that made the finals had 3 players on the team that had learned Perfect Aim this week. It was no accident that these guys made it to where they were at. I watched the first match of the finals. They beat a team from Arkansaw on the hill.

I had to leave before the second match was done but I hope these guys won it. First place with the calcutta was about $7,000 I think, at least that is what one of the guys on the team told me.

What fun it was to watch these guys compete.

I also gave a young man a lesson today at the Rack. At least 60 years young I think. Each time we came to another part of perfect aim he would just shake his head. It was really a pleasure to help him tune up his game. He bets that one pocket real high. Been known to bet $1000 a game.

Not going to put his name on here. His $1000 action is in big trouble. Better have deep pockets.

Next time through he wants me to spend a week with him. In a week there is no telling where his game could go. After seeing the improvements after 2 hours I'd say off the charts. He already played pretty sporty.

I can honestly say from now on if I see one person light up a cig wherever I'm at I'm gone. I don't care if I'm in the finals. it's over.

Can't teach Perfect Aim if I'm dead or sick. 2 kind of crummy choices if I stay in the smoke.

It will take about a week or 2 to get back to breathing good again.

Then I can start excersizing again on a regular basis. Just had an A1c test done and the results were terrible. If the numbers stay up there where their at they'll be cutting off my stuff in the near future.

What a shame. After being in the smoke for about a month I feel like I'm fighting for my life.

What was that movie where the guy ate only at McDonalds for one month. The doctor was begging him to stop the experiment after 25 days because his numbers were so far out of wack? He went from healthy to very unhealthy real quick.

I wouldn't do this again for any amount of money, well,,,,,, ??? OK alot of money maybe. But you all get the point.

Even the smokers don't like it with it so smokey but as long as they can they'll just light up inside and contribute to this huge health hazard. I used to smoke until I was 31. I wouldn't have walked outside to smoke either if I didn't have to.

It's funny though. I was complaining to one of the main guys at High Pockets and I told him that I was at Southhaven, Miss, about 30 minutes away and I ate at a Waffle House. The guy right next to me lit up a cigerette. He was in the smoking section. The whole place was only 25 feet long. he told me; Now that's crazy. They still allow smoking in the restuarants in Mississippi.

Then i told him I ordered a nice grilled chicken sandwich with a huge baked potato and great salad earlier at High Pockets and the gal behind the bar brought it over to me and sat it down right next to a nasty old ashtray with one cig burning in it. As I looked at the pathetic situation A lady came walking by pretty quick and some of the ashes, not many, kind of fluffed out of the ashtray and on to my food. I picked up the ashtray to move it only to have the person with the lit cig in there worrying where his cigerette was going.

Yuck. Now that's crazy. They have great food at High pockets but that was nuts.

One man a van and the road......non smoking road............

Geno,
You are a super talented player. You are a high profile player. You are against smoke in pool rooms. No illegal drug usage, no drinking, no smoking, no cursing, well spoken ......what else could a sponsor be looking for?

I have to think that there are some sponsors out there that are looking for a guy like you.

You should build a resume, listing your tournament accomplishments (leave off the gambling unless you are petitioning one of the gambling entities) and send your resume to all of the companies that sell product to help people quit smoking.

You never know, one of them might spring for a sponsorship, then you wouldn't have to force yourself to play in the smoke-filled pool rooms.

I'd have as much fun passing out electronic cigerette as I do teaching Perfect Aim.

I'd also be saving peoples lives....

Just like Perfect Aim, a player doesn't know what they are going to learn until after they see it first hand. Once they see it for real with their own eyes there's no turning back.

Even though these players and people that smoke know all the bad things, sickness and slow deaths directly related because of cigerette smoke, they continue to smoke because of the addiction.

I feel so sorry for these people because they are victims of something that was acceptable and glamourized in our society so a big company could haul in huge profits.

And they have done one hell of a job.

Their secret weapon is death. Dead people don't complain at all.

They're just gone. They disappear.

Slowly people are winning the battle but the addiction is just too strong.

The cigerette companies. What a great example of brain washing and addiction.

And it goes on, and on, and on and on and on..........................

My pal Sean would call that "killer marketing".

Here's wishing you all the best with your game, your health and your future sponsorships.

Was in Tunica and used my E-Cig most all of the time... I think in 13 days I bought 3-4 packs of real cigarettes and would hit them on breaks or the casino floor just out of habit... The demographics for the e-cigs are smokers and there is a good margin in their products...

If I opened a room these days I would make it non-smoking and offer e-cig rentals and sales to smoking customers with a vast array of flavors to try...

I have everything from Red Velvet Cake to Marlboro Reds in flavors and have had great success getting people to start out using the coffee flavor if they are coffee drinkers....

Still think I could generate a few lessons in Knoxville but you would still be in the smoke so I can see where Ohio would be a better choice... Never thought I would come up with ANY reason supporting that LOL

Was good meeting you in person finally and will post a product review of the DVD when I get time to actually stop and watch it....

Safe travels Geno

It was great finally meeting you in person there Mr Chris.

From our conversation I can see that you know your stuff.

You are one of these one eyed wonders for sure.

Hopefully we'll meet up again. Your work there kept you pretty busy.

Your work behind the scenes was much appreciated by myself and others that understood exactly how the magic worked at Tunica.

Great Job and thanks Geno.......

Alot happened in 3 days with no internet............

One bright spot was winning a handicap tourny with a $720.00 calcutta in Poplar Bluff,Mo.

1st in the calcutta was $240 and 1st in the tourny was $225. Sweet.

$10 entry and I went for $30 in the calcutta.

Played a guy named Billy. Gave him the 7 ball. Won 2 of 3 sets. All good.

But the shining star of the 3 days was a young lady that I talked to that hopefully is going to treatment myself in March 1986. It seems just like yesterday. It was the most important 30 days of my life.

It's a shame when our young guns out there get hooked on that crack or ice or any drug for that matter.

I had a short talk with her about the treatment thing and shared my experience with going to treatment.

I know she has alot of people trying to help her and I felt very humbled to be able to talk with her and hopefully make a difference.

Only time will tell. I hope that everyone that reads this will put this little gal on their prayer list. Pray that she makes the right choice and gets to treatment.

Thanks everyone...........

It was Shooters in Olathe or Breakers in Mobile.........

I left Cape Girardeau at 12:00 today. I was heading for Olathe. I gave Joey A a call and he said there's a great tourny down here in Mobile, Al.

I stopped the car and flipped a coin. Mobile was 9 hours away and Olathe was 5 hours.

I'm in Mobile right now. I paid my entry and paid Joey's also. Looks like it is going to be one great weekend.

On the way here I talked to Joey on the phone and we might be going to Tallahasey, Fl together the next weekend. Big truck is streaming that one.

I just had to play in another tournament or 2. I got in stroke some bu playing in some tournaments and I did some gambling which also helped.

It's 2:00 AM. Need to get to sleep.

Like I said , a great weekend. It don't get any better than this.

One man, a van and the road..............

Really? I can think of a lot of reasons why Ohio would be better than Knoxville....

What a battle at Breakers in Mobile, Alabama

Old fashion beat down drag out pool. The way it used to be.

This is not a tournament for the weak minded for sure.

10 valley bar tables that just got recovered. Tough to play shape on. need to be real careful.

On one side of the tables they have wooden chairs. If someone is sitting in them they have to move before you shoot if the cue ball is on that side of the table.

On the other side is the bar. The only chairs to sit on are the ones at the bar and they are usually full.

I got worked over in my last match with the rack and other antics the player used. Then I had 2 gals that were sitting in the players chairs. One moved at my request but the other one got in my face telling me how she has just as much right to sit in that chair as anyone else. Every time the cue ball was on that side she had to move so we could shoot.

she stayed there with her friend standing there trying to torture me during the whole match. Just plain stubborn.

The smoke is bad and my blood sugar is 194. Way too high. It's just what the smoke does to me.

The good news is I can now play in the smoke because my whole body has broken down to a lower level of health. I'm getting used to playing feeling sick from the smoke. If that makes any sense.

Anyone can win this thing. It would be pretty sweet for me.

I went for $25 in the calcutta and I bought myself. I don't know how that happened but I'm not complaining.

Next match will probably be Scott Frost. I think he was beating Harold from Bama Billiards in Tukaloosa. I play the winner.

And yes I'm still on the winners side/.

What fun. Scott better be on his game. I'm ready........

Little boy Blue and the man in the moon,

When I'm coming home dad I don't know when. We'll get together then.

You know we'll have a good time then..........
