On The Road Again with Perfect Aim....

wow

You took a lesson "yesterday" and it's revolutionized your game?

There is nothing, no chalk, no one lesson, no hypnotic tape, etc. that in ONE day can revolutionize someone's pool game.

Maybe you were literally a hack league player who couldn't run 2 balls and now you can run 3, but as even the hardcore people who believe in systems will tell you, it takes time and practice.

Gives you a great practice point and place to work from, yep, but not revolutionize.

JMHO

I'm not going to defend my game, but I've done well in large local tournaments while holding down a 55-70 hr/week job and a family. We have no access to live teachers where I live, so I get all of my information from dvd's and tapes. I understand the concepts of ghost ball, stroke, and position play. However, I can get to where I'm playing off by rushing my stroke, and not setting up correctly for shots.

When Gene was here, I took the lesson. Before the lesson, I was missing some shots and didn't know why. After Gene showed me why I was missing, he told me what to do differently to make shots. 90% of it was aiming prior to getting down on the ball. He showed me a sequence in my pre-shot routine that felt more correct when I got down to the ball and knew I would make the ball, and I did. Before lesson - trouble getting certain shots to go, after lesson was able to make them consistently. I learned why I miss left cuts more than right cuts, and why I usually miss to one side if I miss. I have always known how to do the stroke, but was not aiming correctly. So I went from no review of my shotmaking to having Gene working with me and showing me I can consistently make balls.

I'm telling you I'm 200% more consistent when I use Gene's techniques than when I don't. Before the lesson, I have been able to place 4th in state singles, 1st place in a state singles b tournament, and I still didn't know what what holding me back from improving. Now I know how to set up on shots not to miss. I have knowledge than can help me win more games. Getting over this one hump absolutely revolutionized my game.

Then I watched my girlfriend go from shooting a half ball off just due to her eye alignment. I tried to show her that she was lining up incorrectly, but I did not know how to help her fix it. She was a bar league player before she met me, and was comfortable playing at her level. She started watching me play, and started wondering why she wasn't making certain shot. Then Gene came along and showed her the difference between her normal alignment and an alignment that makes the ball. It was day and night.

I could care less what you think of me or my game, but I want people to know that Gene has information nobody else is writing about or showing on dvd's and that I play better when I use the information.

Some lessons I will never forget and this was one.....

Just like pool experiences when we go to tournaments, the things that we see and do are priceless.

The same can be said while teaching on the road.

When Kim was finally making those balls consistently, especially cutting to the left, it almost seemed like a miracle to me. It is one lesson I will never forget. But it is just the way it is once a person learns how the eyes work with the brain, trying to make those little round balls go in the holes.

All players experience a miracle when they learn this, it's just that some of them are bigger miracles than others.

Minot, ND was a great experience for me. So many nice people. I want to thank everyone there for making me feel like one of the gang. Making me feel right at home.

DID THEY keep the poolhall open up there or open a new one yet?

We all need a playground even the big kids:cool::rolleyes:

Next stop will be New Orleans

I'm heading to Texas to work with Big Truck on my new video and play at the Texas open.

New Orleans is right on the way. I've always wanted to see this city my whole life. It will be fun just driving around taking it all in. Sometimes when I'm in these cities here and there I burn up a whole tank of gas just driving around seeing everything. To me that's fun. Not the gas but the looking.

I here that Buffalo Billiards is one great place for pool. I will be seeing it with my own eyes. And seeing it Perfectly.

Should be there tomorrow. Don't know how long I'll be there so if anyone there reads this you should set up a lesson before I get there.

Should be leaving in the morning from Tallahassee.

Got a little traffic ticket thing I'm working on right now.

The case of the invisible $173.00 u-turn sign.

Can't see the sign when your at the intersection at night. I sat there last night and counted 27 cars that made the u-turn not knowing the sign was there.

The Tallahassee officer will not take back the ticket and all the officers that came to look said you just got to pay the ticket even though I had no idea the sign was there.

Working with the news station to try and change this sign and this attitude.

But that's another whole story that went on during the tourny here and will be finished today.

I hope to get out of town OK. I made some waves here.

I'm right on this one but the advice from an attorney friend of mine is to just get out of town.

On the road again. One man, a van and the road.

You da man!

Go fight 'em! Take a photo and show it to the judge.

Fyi, the only ticket I got while living in Miami was for doing a u-turn at 4:00 a.m. with NO ONE AROUND...but the cop.

Good luck.

Hello Gene,
I want to thank you so much for all you do for pool and pool players all over the place. I think Congrats are in order for your finishing position in the tournament in Florida. You are an asset to the pool world.
Many Regards,
Lock n load.

Call me, please

Gene, sorry I didn't get baCK WITH YOU, call me when you have a moment, 504-451-9603, Gerald in Thibodaux, La. 45 minutes west of New Orleans

I'm in New Orleans right now and for 4 days.....

Gene, sorry I didn't get baCK WITH YOU, call me when you have a moment, 504-451-9603, Gerald in Thibodaux, La. 45 minutes west of New Orleans

I drove to New Orleans today and got a room for 4 days. I plan on doing a few lessons here and heal up my shoulder.

I was reaching out across the table with a bridge and as I stroked I fell on my right shoulder jamming it up to my ear. This is the way I dislocated it 3 years ago. I had it surgically repaired about 2 years ago. I can still swing the cue but I have trouble bringing a glass of water to my mouth with the right hand.

I hope it will just heal up.

The good news is that anyone that is around or near can take advantage of me being here and learn Perfect Aim right from the Perfect aim guy himself. I don't know how long I can continue to do this with my health. Don't miss out.

Just give me a call at 715-563-8712 and I'll fix up your aim for sure.

I'll be hanging around Buffalo Billiards.

I'm really enjoying reading all about your road trip. I'm only on page 6 but have enjoyed it immensely. I've heard about you Perfect Aim system for years now and as soon as I finish reading this thread I'm going to check into the dvd's.

I may hold off awhile though. I've had 2 open shoulder surgeries (2 on left, 1 on right dominant arm) in less than 6 months and am just now starting to get my game back. I say that so you know at least one person here knows what you're going through when your shoulder gets really bad lol.

Anyway I hope this finds you healthy, happy and well slept :D Enjoy your travels and thanks for keeping us up to date :)

Your DVD is in my buying queue!

Hi there Skippy,
I'm going to the Texas open and have to be there on the 30th.

The next best thing would be get the Perfect Aim video and call me for the Perfect Aim phone lesson.

I did over 300 of these over the past year with great success. It's not the same as me being there but it works extremely well.

Out of the 300 I had 300 very improved pool players. This works for everyone once you learn how it works.

Cutting your misses in half is an understatement.

Thanks geno.......

I think that is a good approach. I know that a good aiming system could help me a lot. I'm putting in my list of stuff to buy.

Cheers,
Skippy

What a day yesterday and today...No sleep........

It was quite a day. After the night before being so dead in New Orleans I decided to come back to New Orleans during the Big easy pool tourny in about 10 days. Everyone was getting ready for the hurricane. They take it serious here after what happened a few years back and I think we still remember all the tragic events back then.

I had a flat tire the day before. Joey save the day with his handy dandy, plug the hole right on the spot little kit. Was that slick.

He was my hero of the day for sure. I might still be sitting there today. Who knows?

The bad news is that I ripped something in my ribs and back when I was taking off the lug nuts. I wasn't even thinking about my ribs.

Got up in the morning and couldn't even stand up straight. Could only take about 1/2 a breath at a time.

I still packed up and tried to make my way to Lafayette to work with Chris at Diamond Billiards.

On the way through town I spotted one of these chinese massage places. With the pain I was in the car almost seemed to steer itself to the front door. Auto pilot. I teach that with Perfect Aim also.

This was the best massage I had in a long time but it just made the ribs and back worse.

As I walked out I noticed I was right next to Corner Pockets. What a coincidence. Jamie Farrell owns this place and had gotten a partial perfect Aim lesson from Rodney Morris about a year ago. Jamie told me that rodney showed him what he could but didn't remember most of it.

I couldn't hardly wait to show Jamie the whole skinny on Perfect aim.

This was the first time I met Jamie and I have to say he's a pretty nice guy.

He understood exactly what I was talking about almost immediately. I enjoyed every minute of it also.

Then I worked with a couple of young guys that asked me a few questions.

I changed the one guys stroke around a little and he saw really good results immediately. He was kind of surprised and the mini Perfect aim lesson i gave them both left them with their jaws dropped about a foot.

That was great fun also. I know of 2 lessons I will have for sure when I come back for the Big easy tourny.

Now I had to get to White Diamond Billiards and work with Chris. He already bought the video so I told him that the price he paid would come off the lesson. That made the lesson only $120. What a bargain.

Unfortunately the cars were bumper to bumper and sometimes were stopped. I left Corner pockets at 8:00PM and I didn't get to Lafayette until 12:30 AM.

But Chris was a trouper and still ready to go with the lesson.

The lesson was real a challenge for me and for Chris. I had to make sure which eye was dominant for sure and needed to know if he was one of the one eyed wonders or mortal like the rest of us.

Once we determined that, the rest was easy. What a great student of the game.

I think I left White Diamond at around 4:30AM. I need to get to Round Rock, Texas as soon as I can.

Finally got to Houston at about 11:00 AM. Boy was I tired. Got to Round Rock about 1:00PM.

Stopped at Skinny Bobs and then went and got me a room.

After unloading my stuff I got out the computer and here I am.

I'm going to sleep for about 2 days and ice up these ribs and see if I can get ready for this Texas open thing here. Looks like another tourny with hardly no practice. But I have to heal up a little for sure.

Maybe I'll get a soft match or 2 and get in stroke as i go. But can't count on that. But one thing I can count on is my aiming.

Anyway, I'm pooped. Good morning or good night, whatever it is it doesn't much matter.

My world will be a much better place once i get some sleep.

I said this in Tallahassee and I'll say it again right now. Regardless I'm going to beat alot of players that don't think they are supposed to lose this weekend.

And then again i might just get my butt handed to me in 2 quick matches.

They better start getting used to seeing me win a match here and there. . This old man doesn't know when to quit.

One man, a van and the road........

Getting grounded, so important when your on the road guys...

I want to talk a little bit about what I call getting grounded.

We do this all the time when we're at home but when your on the road it's easy to just keep running yourself into the ground until there is nothing left in the tank. This is the downfall of most players that have ever went on the road.

I slept about 6 hours which is hardly enough after not sleeping for 24 hours.

I went shopping for some food and just kind of took my time. It was 2:00AM in the morning so it was like I owned Walmart. Hardly anyone there.

I washed clothes. Kind of nice that they have laundry facilities right here at the motel.

Got the room all set up so I'm good to go for the whole week. Ice maching is right outside my room. I really couldn't ask for much more as far as getting set up to play in a tournament except not enough practice. I plan on starting that tommorrow. Hopefully i can find someone to gamble a little with. That usually gets me there faster than anything. $50 or $100 sets is enough but more will work too.

The money also depends on these ribs. I'm going to have to play with them hurting but I'm getting pretty used to it so it's not that big of a deal. Just like getting used to the smoke I'm used to the ribs and back.

But this is the best advice I can give to any young guys out there that are planning a road trip for a week or 2. Don't wear yourself out. Take some time to smell the roses and take care of yourself. Be good to yourself.

The work in this tournament starts tomorrow. Practice and eating right and the fitness center. I got that all mapped out also.

I'll be as ready as I can. Just have to see what happens.

Rest and relax for now............this is the whole world for now right here in Round Rock, Texas and that will be the whole focus.

Just like a Boy Scout. Be Prepared..............

Rough day at the table.............

I knew today would be a little rough because i drove all night until 1:00 PM into the next day with no sleep. It usually takes a day or 2 to get grounded again.

I went down to the pool hall to play a little. I had trouble making a ball at first. Then it got better but not great.

Then Dave Henson comes up and wants to gamble. We play but I can't win. By that I mean I win one and lose one. Win a set and lose a set. This went on all night.

Finally i checked my blood sugar because i felt a little weak. It was time to eat. I ate a little and took a pill. I checked it a little bit later and it was up to 170. Too high. I was playing like crap too.

Broke even for the night and checked my blood sugar back at the room and it was 77. Too low. I must have gotten some mayo or something on my finger when I ate part of a sandwich. That will give a false high reading.

Now I know why I felt so bad. it was too low.

tomorrow we are going to play again. I think it will be pretty one sided. I hope.

I need to get some time in on the table before the tourny.

Trying to control this blood sugar can really be a crap shoot.. Breathing in that second hand smoke just makes it that much harder.

I'll play alot better tomorrow. I'm sure if I win 3 sets he will quit. he's got a backer.

Maybe you should check yourself less, with all the sugar problems, pains etc.

When you feel week eat, when its smokey go outside a little bit, whatever feels best at the moment, I've found out whenever I analyse to much about health (check blood pressure, fat etc.) I just worry myself too much and it just gets worse. If I feel something is wrong I take a pill, or do something else that helps from previous experience and forget about it.

Just sayin'.....

If your diabetic you need to check.........

My friends that are diabetic that have that attitude aren't doing very well.

Hal had a heart attack and the other Larry they just put on insulin.

In fact Larry was telling me the same thing. Just eat what you want and take your pills. If you keep checking it all the time it will drive you crazy.

He sure wishes now he would have been more careful.

He appoligized to me for his bad advice 2 months after I was diagnosed.

Another friend I had named Paul just died. Once it get too far there is no healing up. The damage is done.

I never knew anything about diabetes until I found out I was diabetic. Then i knew why I had felt so bad for the last 5 years.

The bad thing is the pills make you sick. And are really hard on your kidneys. But you need to take them.

If you don't take care of it good enough they need to start cutting off your body parts.

Sometimes no matter how well you take care of it, it just gets worse.

It's a terrible thing to watch your body kind of eat itself away little by little.

But that's diabetes.........Just need to do the best we can do.
