On The Road Again with Perfect Aim....

Let us know when you go back to Beloit or the Chicago area. You gave me a lesson and it really helped knowing I'm right handed but left eye dominant. I'd love to meet up with you guys, buy you a drink and give you guys some cheap action

Great lesson with Willie.....

What a surprise but not really.

I went to willies house for the Perfect Aim lesson and as I climbed up the stairs to a room upstairs there it was.

A big beautiful 9' diamond table. The room looked like pool heaven for sure.

Now i know how willie stay so sharp.

The lesson went well as usual and it was extremely gratifying for me to work with one of our own pillars of the game.

So many of the older player that have been there and done that get great respect from me for sure and Willie was no exception.

Sometimes I would pause and just listen to one of his stories from the past like a little kid just soaking up every last drop.

This for sure gave willie some answers on why some of the shots just aren't looking quite right anymore. With his knowledge of the game it won't take him long to make Perfect aim his own and jump his game back up to where he's trying to get. .And hard telling where it will take him. Maybe higher than ever before.

This was one of those special lessons that i will remember forever.

Thanks Willie if you read this for letting me share this with you.

Got done with my Lesson at 6:00 Monday and headed for Charlotte, NC

Got to Abermarle about 1:00 AM and found out that the business had changed hands and the place was getting a facelift.

great for pool in the area so it seems. New carpet and the new owner is pretty upbeat about what he is doing.

I plan on doing some work there with perfect Aim after the tournament Sat and Sun.

So we headed into Charlotte to find a room close to Smokin Cue. This is always a pain but we eventually got one that will work.

Should be in the area doing lessons for about 3 weeks and then it will be back to Midelothian, Virginia to play in the $20,000 9 ball tourny in Dec.

Smokin Cue looks like a great poolhall. 3 diamonds in the front with rows of beautiful gold growns throughout the rest of the room. This is a well kept pool hall and the kind of place that just makes you want to be there.

They have a full bar also. But this is clearly a Great poolhall that just happens to have a bar. Not one where the bar runs the poolhall.

Can't wait to meet the owner and do my this to help the players and maybe give his business a little boost with Perfect Aim.

Pretty tired today. Might just cruise around the area and see all the pool halls in the area.

Another adventure and a whole new pool world.

Can't wait to get started.

The first thing Gene said to me when he woke up this evening is...

"I was thinking someone should make a shirt that says (I'm so old I don't need a spot) and on the back it would read (Because it wouldn't matter anyway)."

I thought it was funny so I thought I'd share it with you

Rack'em Pub and Billiards is really the only other one in Charlotte. Not nearly as nice as Smokin Cue, but there are a lot of league players there. You would probably do better from a lessons perspective there. All of the action is at Smokin Cue though.

Good luck in Charlotte.

... Smokin cue (some pics) has some diamonds, gold crowns and a couple anniversaries

Good pic's nb, TY. I've been to Smokin Cue (got freaking skewered by some elderly, short, bald, unassuming vulture ;) that at the end took my green papered handshake with a smile).

Never been to Rack Em. Is Rack Em in Matthews, just SE of Charlotte? And doesn't an instructor, that posts on AZ spin his magic out of it? Scott Lee perhaps?

Rhea:

FYI @ Charlotte traffic @ 85/77 - if yáll aren't ON the highway by 4PM (3PM on FRIs), and THROUGH the city, then hang-it-up for 2 hrs @ 5 oçlock traffic.

CHARLOTTE TRAFFIC IS WORSE THAN ATL/LAX.

there is ALWAYS a wreck, daily.
do NOT switch highways (85 v 77 v 485), cause there's ANOTHER WRECK @ THERE!
ride it out.
sit.
*and keep 1/4 tank of gas onhand @ all times*

PL <---- i obviously HATE Charlotte traffic & have to plan ATL trips around it

Got stuck in S. CLT. After a golf tournament. Cracker head tried to open my passenger door on broad daylight.

Crimson Trace laser is a great deterrent.

Ms Lady is spot on in regards to CLT traffic.

Got to work with one of charlottes finest. A member of the Fire department, his name is Brian.

This was especially fun because brian plays at a pretty high level and was having some trouble getting to that next level. this gave him the answers he was looking for.

Then it was off to the 9 ball handicap tourny at Smokin Cue. They made me a 13. to give you an idea the level this is they made Larry nevel a 14.

I worked my way through the tourny and got down to the final 4. I played a guy that had to go to 4 and i had to go to 8. he got on the hill and I still needed 4 games to win. I gutted it out and got there.

Now I had to play Larry for the final.

Larry is diabetic like myself.

I forgot my tester and made the mistake before we played of eating another sandwich. I didn't know it but this briought my blood sugar level up to 178. Way too high.

Larry had to go to 6 and I needed to go to 5.

I shot pretty good and got to the hill and larry was on 2.

I dogged 3 outs on the hill by missing fairly easy shots to run out. I made these tough shots in the match before. it just didn't make any sense until i went back to the room and check the old blood sugar.

I'm not taking any meds now and controling it with diet. Now that I am taking this siezure medication i need to learn how this effects the blood sugar.

i really needed to have my meter with me. Pretty stupid on my part.

I got some action lined up and really need to keep a handle on this situation.

Taking second in this tourny was pretty good. it got me about $230 with half of the calcutta but it really sucked that i lost by dogging 3 seeing eye racks in a row.

Larry had to like it.

Having some real fun..........

This has been a great discovery for me, learning I was having siesures in my sleep.

Since my accident in Peoria on May 4th these have been going on. I would sleep for 12 hours and wake up just wrecked. Hard to play like that.

Even when i was awake I would have trouble focusing on an object. Looking for bread at Walmart was even a challenge. Have a hard time even finding the right brand. Eyes are all over the place.

Hard to explain to someone that isn't having this trouble.

Lucky that Rhea woke up about a week ago and saw my trying to kill the pillow with my head. .

Then she got up and watched me do another jerry Lee Lewis impression 40 minutes later. Shake, Rattle and roll.

Even when i type on the forum here i need to correct so many words. It's been a chore.

The meds i have for the siezures help my eyes focus on one spot only. I can actually look at the ball and see only the ball and not feel like I'm just gazing at it.

I need to get used to seeing correctly again and I will.

The bad news is the meds cause some other trouble. Sick to the stomach and a little dizzy.

If the results I'm having right now continue I will be beating some good players again. I won't have to take a back seat to anyone. Any player i play will have to beware.

I'm pretty pumped with the results for right now and can see i will just get stronger once i get this all figured out.

Just imagine looking ay someones face and not being able to really see their eyes.

It's like I'm having a siezure all the time but it's just like a little earthquake.just with my eyes and head when I'm awake. .

trying to play like this the last 7 months has been very challenging but i kept on and kept teaching.

Now i need to see if i can find that heart that i used to have that put the fork in many a player over the years. I know it's still there. I will find it again. Being able to see right will sure help.

Excited and can't wait to play tomorrow.

Bring em on.

WOW! That's some traveling and scheduling......

Now that's what a valuable road partner can do.

Tonight Gene played tremendously well, the exercise and pure discipline in monitoring his blood sugar, and eating healthy is paying off.

I got to witness pure genius as Gene played flawless as the highest rating in the GSBT tournament in a field of approx 25 players with a couple other 11s besides Gene. Gene was the winner of the hotseat even playing races to 11 with people who only had to go to 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, or 9. He ended up winning 1st place tonight for $500 and we got half of him in the calcutta as well for even more.

To top off the night I ended up getting 5th place and got to meet Shannon the Cannon. Shannon even shared his hot wings with me.

I drew Gene my first match and I lost hill-hill and got 5th fighting my way through the losers bracket only to lose to the 4th place winner Cheryl Pritchard who travelled from Chesapeake to play the event.
