One more argument for why you would want 2 shafts when you order a cue. No 2 shafts play exactly alike. You may like one of them and not so much the other. I got that SouthWest today and took her to the pool hall. The tips on it were LePro's. I changed to a Moori M on one of the shafts and started playing. I wasn't very thrilled with the taper or the hit of the cue. I was actually beginning to wonder if I made a mistake. At the end of the night I thought "I didn't hit any balls with the other shaft" so I took out the other shaft and screwed her together. It was like night and day. The taper is totally different and it hits like a dream. The one I set aside as the spare shaft is going to be the main shaft. If I only had the 1 shaft I wouldn't be a happy camper tonight.

So there ya go. One more reason why you would want to order 2 shafts with a cue.

Ebony forearm with gorgeous birdseye points. I was going to take some pics tonight but was so excited to get to the pool hall that I ran out of here without my camera. Pics will be up later this week for sure.

Another argument

could be, that even if you have the same type tip on both shafts, one of them will get better draw than the other, and better on force-follow shots too.

Plus, the fact that you may shoot on different sizes and types of tables where one tip may be better suited than the other.

And, the fear everyone has, is that you break a shaft, throw a tip, and don't have another during a big tournament. (Which is one of the reasons I have 2 shafts for my break cue since it is one of very most important shots in playing where not being able to break as good could knock you out in a tournament).
 
I also think it is very wise to have a spare shaft with you. Chances are you won't need it but It will definetely save you butt someday. I have a freind that carries two shafts of majorly different tip size and tapers. He uses a different one depending on if he's playing bar box or 9 footer.

So I think it's better than carrying around an extra stick adding to case wieght. Especially if you carry a break cue already. When I used to carry my 3 butt 5 shaft case, everyone would ask me Why I brought my golf bag with me.. lol

I don't think a reputable cuemaker, unless asked to, would release a 2 shaft cue with different tapers.

Gotta watch a fly-by-nite maker like SW:o ;)
 
I would assume he bought it used, if not then that's pretty bad on SW's part, unless ordered that way.
 
2 shafts should be all you really need. You are right no 2 shafts play the exact same but should be very close.......

And look at it this way. Southwest has very good resale value :D:D

Nah, it's brand spankin' new. I'm assuming the original customer must have ordered 2 tapers. I can't explain it, but it's not used, that's for sure.

far better

Far better to have a spare shaft that you are at least somewhat familiar with than damage a shaft and have to borrow a stick or play off the wall. I probably would get the two shafts matched as closely as possible, two different tapers are very awkward unless you play with both regularly.
