One of a kind flat face Schon

I thought you guys may enjoy seeing this Schon. I believe its an older ST-8 thats not made anymore. I just converted it over to a 3/8-10 flat face joint. Replaced the steel collar with bloodwood as is used in the points. Replaced the 5/16-14 pin with a steel 3/8-10. And replaced the brass in the shaft with phenolic tapped to accept the new pin. This was done by customer request...and I must admit it really woke up the "hit" of this cue. The shaft also had the older micarta ferrule as to which I fitted a Tiger M. Seldom do I pick up a cue that feels like I've played with it forever...this one did! Now my customer is extremely happy to have a one of a kind Schon that plays more like he wanted. Hows it look?

Sounds like it would play excellent. You might have created a new market for Schon Conversions. lol

I am not too sure I like the way the bloodwood looks between the two black collars. Maybe the pictures don't do it justice. I think it would have looked better with a black collar.

I wanted to do it in an fake ivory so it would match the buttcap. I've done several others and they look jam up. Eyecatching to see a Schon with an ivory joint. But...I'm paid to do as the customer request. Bloodwood you shall have sir!!!

my friend has one of the LTD's.. maybe 4 years old now.. that is similar to that cue.. his is all ebony with leather and the points are natural and a dark wood.. not sure what.. but its a nice model...

Do you have new pics with the fake ivory?

actually some of the very first schons were flat faced with a white/?? material joint...still 5/16-14 tho, no big pin

i saw one at the DCC and there is one locally...the phenolic in the rings is different too, more like a really aged carmel phenolic...

From the title I thought it was going to be a factory flat faced cue, ooops.

I have a flat-faced, wood jointed, Radial pin Schon that I bought last year, it's really unique since it's cored too with a cocobolo forearm.

At times throughout Schon's history they have done some cues with flat face joints....seen them with 5/16-14, Radial, and a ACME like 3/8 pin.

I remember he made a cue for Shannon Daulton, 3/8x10 pin, Ivory flat-faced joint. The cue I bought was from a regular dealer, I guess he must have ordered it that way. It's a great looking cue, 5 points of Ebony on a cocobolo forearm with sharp Ivory triangles in the points. The ringwork isn't standard either, they are silver square boxes......and you are right it is an SP Schon.
