One of the best pool movie clips of all time featuring Grady Seasons...

During a tournament at the Hardtimes, I was watching Kieth for the first time - when he came back to SoCal. I bet on him from the rail and was shocked to see that when he failed to run out and left an appearant out to the opponent, he would rake the balls and rack for the the next game.

If I had gotten a game/s on the wire, I would have rather that he would wait to see if the opponent would miss and win that game. This confused me. This was also before playing "safe" was prevalent - not his style.

Later, another player explained that by raking the balls, it denied the opponent time at the table to get in stroke - clever move; or was that just his style?

Later I noticed that Mark Tadd would do thee same thing.

Because of this, I believe, they required that each player play the game
out - for the benifit of those that bet on games?

Keith is the most entertaining player in the game - keen wit.

You're correct, Mark and Keith in many matches would just rake the balls with 3 or 4 balls still on the table. I don't believe it was to keep them from getting into stroke but just to get the next game started.

Both of these guys felt that they were just going to overpower their opponents with their skills which they usually did. Almost like playing the nine ball ghost.

Jam,
I just got the tape you recommended today. GREAT MATCH! I'm up to the part where they are tied 2 to 2. The quality of this dvd is great, The battle between the two is great. You can actually see the english and cue to cue ball position really well on each shot. The safeties are unbelievable. Keith's shot on the 2 ball in the match to tie was smoooth. I'm trying to get the house ready for Christmas but I can't stop watching it! Thanks, again. Hope you guys have a great Christmas!

It is probably my favorite match -- well, one of a couple of my favorite matches that Keith played in. I am so glad you are enjoying it :)

If you look in the audience, you can see quite a few action and pro players sweating Keith. Most times, when the matches are over with at the U.S. Open, the competitors usually leave the conference center, but this one night was different. They all came to watch Keith perform. :grin-square:

You can see Jimmy Wetch from Minnesota and Ronnie Wiseman sitting front row laughing and having a blast watching this match.

If they had played the U.S. Open finals that night, there is no doubt in my mind that Keith would have won, the way he was hitting 'em.

Here's a picture taken from that tournament, with Jimmy Wetch on the left. Jimmy looks great in this picture, but Keith was a little annoyed with me taking his picture non-stop that day. :o
