I have been trying to get Tom Wirth to come to Dallas and give some one hole
lessons

Even banking instruction

If I can get him to come in March or April
if 6 or 8 of us put up $500 each so i can
promise him a few thousand to pay expenses
and put a little in the pocket

believe me we will learn more in a day than most people ever learn
then the fun begins


I expect to have my table by then so we can have a private setting

Believe me this would be worth the money
he is the best

You will learn things you would never even think of

he is the best instructor in the world for ONE POCKET

I cannot be there but would. Tom is without a doubt the master of the game. There are A players but Tom is AAA+ or whatever exceptional is rated at. He knows the game & table. He can explain, he can teach, he can do. He is a dedicated teacher/author. I call him King Carom. He finds/creates a shot and goes out. Aside from a talented 1p instructor/player he is a first class person. A real gentleman whose only interest is to keep 1P alive.
Deanoc's idea is awesome. Take advantage of what he is offering. Tom is a living legend.
I should change my screen name to Lucky1. I see Tom weekly for lessons. I'm a novice but growing. I have limited skills but getting there. To hear Tom talk about table play, do's and dont's, risk/rewards, think and be aggressive is best fun I've been having with pool in my lifetime. I cannot get enough of TRW pool. Do yourself a favor and learn 1P TRW's way. It is special..... and record the session in slow motion. Some of the things he does needs to looked at again..and slowly.... he pulls some shots that you will see and go HUH...what just happened.

I am sure the response was due to the subject,Tom wirth.
He has not agreed to come to town,but I figured if
we had the interest and I could bribe him into coming,
fun would be had by all.

Best wishes with your lessons,I can tell from the story that
you are being introduced to the real game with insights and understanding.

If you guys can go to Griffs in Las Vegas
i think you will get to see great playing,great exhibitions and instruction,and what i think
will impress you as the best pool room you will ever see

Ls Vegas has lots to offer,but if its pool you love,a trip to this pool
room will probably be the high light of your trip

I haven't been there yet,but i really want to see Mark's newest
room and see Tom Wirth talking one pocket

the tournament should be a first class event,

PS Mark,have you decided to stake my game

i would put up my own money,but I might lose

I think you may have overlooked someone in your own backyard.

When you get your table you could have a few people over for lessons from this guy and here's another idea you could use. Get a video camera taping everything and then everybody plays each other with this guy coaching each player, explaining the how's and why's.

Now everyone has something personal on tape with this fellow they can always look back to whenever they want.


Jeremy Jones is who I'm suggesting.

his playing days are behind him

He is the greatest teacher,and souse of instruction

I am not claiming he was the player Efren was.
Nobody was

JJ is a great player,with a lot of knowledge as well.
Tom was at one time a championship calibre player

His teaching is unequaled in my opinion.
Tom would not even claim that,he is modest

But we all know I make bold claims,which everyone
knows are just my opinions

but read the talk,i am nowhere near alone in my
claims about Tom wirth

You don't have to clarify anything. The unintentional hijacks will pop up and it will eventually turn into Who Is the Best Instructor thread. To compare Efren and Tom have nothing to do with anything. As for Tom being modest...he certainly is but he believes in himself. He's a straight shooter...he speaks from knowledge & facts not opinions.
Not to meet Tom or not to have his book is a missing a wonderful experience. Let's do this..is Tom the best at what he does? Find out. Take a lesson from him....and come back to this thread. And I challenge anyone to find anything but compliments about how he plays and teaches.
 
Tom not only is a great Player and Teacher but he is a true friend and a Gentleman. ps Hope you still play with the Tad that you got from ole "country" Bob buddy.

I still have it and love it, Bob. I once told you that should I ever wish to part with it, you will have first crack at it. That still goes. You know, that was about 20 years ago as I remember it.

Now you guys can buy his book directly from him

the book is the best i have ever seen,for $65 or so you can read and get smart
$65 is a bargain for all the information you get .
i bought 2 copies and my friends grabbed them and won''t return them
theyare great


but there is nothing like one on one teaching and seeing the ideas

plus I am hoping Tom can help me with fundamentals

at 74 years old,i have to hope i can still improve

I don't have the back bone to quit
so the next best thing is to improve with Tom's help
then I can go out and win some easy money

seriously,you guys that can come to texas call me
lets get tom down here and improve our game
and have a lot of fun with him for a day or two

Correction. Price increase on the book. $65 shipped. His cost went up substantially. I’m improving at 71. And BTW you don’t quit. Only way out is to run 8. Sorry we’re not neighbors.... would enjoy playing you.

If somebody wants to put up the cash, I would bet that Tom just might make an exception to "his playing days are behind him

I'm headed down there in a few days and hopefully I get a chance to see him.
