One pocket Players - Cloth

Green nappy cloth cause it's old and slow like one pocket players.

OK, got that out of my system, I really don't have a clue but don't think it makes a difference, a bit like someone looking or a different shaft for different games.

If the table is level- cant be too fast.
If like many old gc's there is some roll off-simonis 860

I prefer fast cloth...like Simonis 760 or Granito Tournament 2000.
You can make thin cuts and thin-cut banks on this stuff and still control
whitey.
These shots don't work on slow cloth...you're forced to play conservative.

At the Rack in the action days, the biggest money was bet at one-hole...
....the cloth was faster than 760 when Gil Elias owned it.

Fast Simonis cloth with fast rails and tight pockets. There is more "moving" in one pocket vs 9 ball. Position is everything in one hole where 9 ball, 10 ball and 8 ball you can get away with being out of line some.

The BIG money one pocket was played on a 5x10 snooker table right in front of the counter!

This was 'Jew Paul's' favorite table, not really a tough table though, it didn't seem to be faster or slower than any other tables in there!

What ever the cloth that everyone played on at that time, I'm pretty sure would be there!

I would have to say, a slower cloth would feel more comfortable for 1 hole, easier to control the CB!

Whatever the blue Simon is... 860?? And not just for one pocket, for all games. More shots become available on the faster cloth while allowing the shooter to remain in control without having to pound everything.

Worn Simonis is the best cloth as it doesn't slide too much and will allow banks to hold their line slow rolling to the pocket. The better question is; what type of table should one pocket be played on, a fast table or slow table. I'd prefer a slow table so you can pound balls out of pockets and not have them return to the same pocket.

The cloth on the snooker table was the same as the pool tables...
...I THINK it was Granito.
Gil used to play tournament 3-cushion..and they preferred Granito.

Picture a ball froze just above your opponent's pocket on the long rail..
...the cue-ball is by the same long rail...4 inches off and in the kitchen.
On Gil's cloth, you could bank it with outside english to your pocket
and keep whitey to three rails on your opponent's side.

When Gil died and they put heavy cheap cloth on that table, you could
only get the bank to the middle of the end rail.

Heavy cloth forces one to play pedestrian pool.

Good quality fast cloth so you don't have to over stroke to move whitey for position. When you're having to hit hard to move half a table, you're going to screw up more often. That said, good rails and a DEAD LEVEL TABLE are most important.

Not to be a stickler but Snooker tables are 12 footers and will always be.

Worn Simonis is fun to play on. I don't think it matters as to what type, so long it has been well worn from play.

The most money I ever won in a weekend was playing on a 5x10 with
carom cloth.
The balls were 2&1/16, the pockets were 3 inch with rounded corners.
There were balls of eight different colors....most of them red.
The table rolled the truest I ever played on.

What game was I playing?

The same cloth everyone else prefers. Simonis 860 seems to be the favorite for all games.

Sometimes I wonder what planet you're from with these questions...

It wasn't 3 cushion, I'm sure of that! lol!

BTW, Gil was a GREAT guy, but, wasn't much of a 3C player, and most 3 cushion players prefer Simonis Rapide 300!

You're not even the real Iggy, go back to bed with these silly questions before I make Cleary give you 9-7 playin one pocket on any cloth son. .

I agree. I played on an older Diamond that King Cobra had rebuilt at Lo Down in Chico, Ca and it was the best one pocket table in Northern CA.

I am an older player who lost his power stroke a long time ago and prefer this faster cloth.

I can play pool on this. Doesn't make it a pool table.
