One Pocket Rocket

Me:
... I've made that shot many times, and I'm no great shooter. If my percentage was only 1 in 20 I wouldn't keep trying it.
SkyScraper:
Ok, I think I speak for us all when I say we are waiting for your video!
Don't think it's worth a video. I tried it a few times tonight - hit it 3 out of 5 times; came close the other two (on a familiar table). Maybe not my long term percentage, but not a total fluke either.

If you play any one pocket you'll see this shot quite a bit.

Of course no video. How about an explanation of the math, physics, and how much feel is involved.

I shoot this shot or a variation almost every game of one pocket. It usually comes up at the beginning of the game. Even if you leave a hanger, it presents problems for your opponent. I would not have shot this shot he shot because of selling out the stripe along the rail. If he had hung the shot, Shannon could have run out from there. Play more bank pool and you will master this shot and others.

Bugs may have been trying to float the cueball between the six and the seven ball as well as making the ball. It's not really a sellout, especially if you can get the cueball between the 6 and 7.

Also if he got staight in on that striped ball by the side rail the opponent would have that one ball and then maybe a bank shot. Bugs however has quite a few balls facing his hole and easy to make. Shannon had only the 13 and the 7 as very easy shots. The combo 9/10 is nice but no gimmee because of the cluster around them.

In big tournaments like this, you are often forced to shoot these type of shots. Bugs being the great banker that he was, wasn't risking as much as some of us.

FWIW, I think this twists back better off the end rail with center ball, not right hand english

You're right but to be more specific, stun, center ball and a half ball hit thrown in for good measure.
