One Pocket Situation: What do you do here?

You are a good player who has started playing one pocket. All the sudden you are playing Shannon the Canon in a big tournament. In this game he needs one, and you need two. What would be a good shot here?

Let's see all options, both defensive and agressive... btw, this is on a fast-n-tight equipment.

Take a foul by knocking the cue ball near opponent's pocket. All the safeties are two chancy in this layout against a player of Daulton's skill. A safety battle will ensue on the spotted ball and if you win it, you have a chance to win the rack. Desperate situations call for desperate measures.
 
3 rail the 12 by my hole. If I make it I bank the 11. If I dont I get it close and shannon has to dig it out. This is my "sleepin in the park" shot.

Your pocket is the upper left corner---How do you 3 rail the 12 there?
 
IMO, okinawa's kick safety requires you to hit them almost perfectly to ensure that no shot is possible. Unless you are Phillipino, I wouldn't try it
 
Moves

aggressive = 2 rail the 12 ball towards your pocket, inside english used, hold or pull the cue back a couple of inches.

safety minded = thin cut the 12 and 2 rail it over to be uptable behind the 11 using low left english taking the cue ball down by your (our) pocket.
 
What? Nobody likes this shot. 2 rail kick the 12 and leave the CB frozen to the 11. Of course, that's the defensive shot, the aggressive shot is on page 2.

I like this best, but I'd try really hard to freeze the cue ball to the long rail after the hit. Whenever I match up with Shannon I try not to leave him too much CB control.

This would be the only shot. This is not the time to foul intentionally when both balls can be moved to your side of the table and no foreseeable offensive return shot will be available.
 
but he is a banking and one pocket powerhouse

I like fouling as well, but I prefer lagging him close to the balls and spotting one up that he is treetopped on. The problem with opening that cluster against a champion is you don't know precisely where both of those balls are going. See the pages of this puppy:

I don't know that I'd foul like that and leave Shannon a one-rail option that could leave me behind those two balls.

I really don't see a good foul option here unless you can guarantee a perfect leave. Against a superior player like Shannon, I don't think digging yourself into the hole is an option.

I'm not much of a one-pocket player, but it seems like a makeable and effective safety to me.

the foul option and the kick option are suicide with that ball count against someone like shannon. the kick option is pretty much suicide against anyone, unless you shoot like efren. i personally like nick b's option best here.
