One Pocket Strategy Question.

One of the smartest players I ever met, would practice for an hour or 2 somewhere else before he went to the poolroom to gamble.
He didn't play unless he was in stroke.
It sucks to get stuck 3 or 4 games and try to get even all the time but most people don't have the time {or believe in it enough } to do this.

I like this post.
If you got a match you're warming up for, it is far more valuable to work
on your stroke. You're not going to learn more about the game in the warm-up.

You gotta dance with the one you came with.

yobagua, there's been some very good advice in this thread for you and others. The thing I would add in respect to selling out in the early part of your match, is to have confidence in your feelings when you suspect that something may go wrong with the shot. Your pass experience may be telling you that there is too much risk in the shot.
Stand back and re-evaluate your selection. Many times if you think something could go wrong it usually does.
As you get more into the games you get to see these shots better and you will know how to make the adjustments to avoid the trouble parts of the shot. Don't try to rush your creativity on the table until your mind and body are ready. This will keep you from falling behind in the early stages of your match.

The time to get more aggressive will come all by itself. Don't rush it.
