Strategy… what did you change?Last week I played a guy one pocket whose skill level at pool in general is about even with mine.
He beat my brains out.
So all week I gave it a little thought and decided to change my strategy a bit.

I took less risky shots and did more freezing the cue ball to the stack and other balls.Strategy… what did you change?
I’m not worse, I haven’t hit a ball in 5 yearsI’ve been known to shoot stupid shots in inexpensive games. But getting better. But eyesight getting worse. One thing goes up one goes down. Guess I’m even. Even worse than before.
Where are you locatedI wish I could get cheap games in the northeast. Few people play one pocket in my area, and the ones that do want to play for 100 and up. I'm not experienced enough to throw money away like that.

Some things I’m learning to focus on. I’m not a great ball runner so I have to stay on my toes otherwise.I took less risky shots and did more freezing the cue ball to the stack and other balls.
And played safes that left off angle banks for him.
I also dropped a couple comments that were in good taste but would undermine his confidence hopefully.
Worked pretty good.
i think you meant to say you like to C YOUR OPPONENTS LOSE.....1p does not get old. I consider myself a C player but can play a respectable game in my class. I do not gamble… simply love the game. It renewed my interest in pool. Always learning. I’m lucky to live near Tom Wirth. Learning and being at the table with Tom has been very good fortune on my end.
You broke the code. Seriously I’m the best in My house.i think you meant to say you like to C YOUR OPPONENTS LOSE.....![]()

Yes just a way to keep score. I have only found $5 one pocket in Sun City West. $10 one pocket is as friendly as $1 nine ball or quarter 3 ball.I play once a week on Saturdays and am no longer interested in making a "score".
It's just enjoying the game and betting a little to keep it interesting.
Amazing what patience will do for you in one pocket.I took less risky shots and did more freezing the cue ball to the stack and other balls.

I don't head out that way too often, but if I do, I'll send you a message. Thanks! I'm a big fan of the game, and just want to learn. A few bucks is all I need to stay engaged. If you get to RI, I enjoy cheap games of one pocket.

Located in the Albany area. The best pool hall in the area, Golden Cue is on the verge of closing its doors for good, so thats really unfortunate. Great place for 9ball, not so good for other games. The few other places with 9ft tables have subpar equipment.Where are you located
There's a nice bunch of one pocket players at Salt City Billiards in Syracuse. They love $5-$10 one pocket, and they play well. Tell'em Lou said hi if you go.Located in the Albany area.
