uttahere:I just saw a flyer for a $4000 added one pocket tournament. It's going to be held at California Billiards in Northern California and then right after that a Seminole nine ball stop. The guy Chris that owns the joint is promoting pool the right way. I believe he plans to stream the play. The room is large and plenty of space for spectators. What I find interesting is that he has eight tables in an area that is separate from the other tables. These tables have been shimmed and are not like the buckets normally played by the pros. Gold Crowns throughout the room. He always has a good crowd for his tournaments and usually prepares special meals for tournaments.
I realize this sounds like an ad but I try to go to DCC as much as possible and these tournaments I hope will turn into the west coast version of the DCC. Being able to watch great players in your own back yard is great. Growing up, Johnson City was close and there was a few wasted weeks spent there. Tournaments like that, dedicated to the players are the best. I expect this to be that type of tournament because dedication to pool players is what California Billiards represents.
