ever since the beginning of time people have bet on things. even the haters bet more than they can afford by buying insurance.
which is nothing but betting say your house will burn down and getting odds that it doesnt from the insurance company. and most all lose to those propositions that are actually required to participate in.
you cant drive without insurance. get a mortgage. buy big purchases on payments, even people insure their life for a loss.
they are actually betting they will die before they pay out more than the policy costs.

but at the same time dont want you or me to bet on a ball game.
screw all the Hippocrites.

The "religious right" has nothing to do with this topic.
Plenty of people on the left are people of faith.
Plenty of people on the right are not.

Insurance is a hedge against financial and/or medical catastrophe.
To see it as a scheme by anyone is foolish.
I support a driver being uninsured if they have $10M in the bank to make whole any and all parties they may harm while driving.
I 100% suppport everyone's prerogative to gamble, do drugs, skydive, or cry about whatever hurts their feelers.
However, I also 100% support tax dollars being withheld from aiding those who harm themselves in their endeavors.
Gamble and go broke? No public services should be offered. Starve for all I care.
OD? Die in the street. I hope it was worth it.
Do something risky for internet fame without insurance? Too f'n bad. No sympathy, no help.

Why do police carry Narcan? People who OD should be given more opiates to help keep them comfortable until they peacefully slip away.
 
I don’t bet sports.

Sometimes I have an idea who’s going to win a pool match. More often than not I’m wrong. So I’ve been exploited by the people who think differently than I do. I’m ok with that.

Hopefully soon there will be another chance for someone to exploit me.

You could not be more wrong. People learned all about the problems of gamblers and saw the destruction of families caused when the head of the household lost the rent and food money gambling with sharks. So it was frowned upon. Sounds pretty smart to me.

I think in-game betting and microbetting from these sites could eventually be good for pool. I use draft kings and they took bets on the Mosconi cup this year (just winner / loser). The odds were inaccuratley skewed in the US' favor and many of us here bet on Europe. I made $4.
 
The first 12 months of legal sports betting here in Colorado was $2.2 billion.
And thats with a population of only 5.8 million.
The casinos here did $44 billion in 2021.
I love it!

AC has always been a shit hole. In the past 25 years it's getting worse and worse. Casino's have to have attractions to bring in people. The casinos look like shit because no one is coming in. They get their money from the regular degenerates that frequent the places. At best you get a performer their for a day tops and then they are off.
