I just received a case from Garth at OnQ Custom Cue Cases out of Scottsdale, AZ and I can't believe what a beautiful case this guy makes! The case, in person, is gorgeous. I'll post a few of the pics I took below, but pictures don't do this case justice. The quality is first rate, the level of cue protection is excellent, the price was very affordable and Garth is a dream to work with. This case has been turning heads at every room I've played in this week and I'm really happy with it.

Very nice, I really liked the one I had, very well made and super solid. The only complaints I had was getting in and out of the pockets which is common it seems for cases like this and it was heavy but heavy is reliable. I had the case for like a year and half and it still looked like new when I got rid of it. :)

I dont think men should be allowed to cry about the weight of a case. You carry it from your car to a pool room and from the pool room to your car..eat some spinach.... Not to mention ,,, I just had the chance to inspect a 3 by 6 case made by Garth and it was really light considering the amount of quality leather and durable hardware. In other words if my grandmother played pool she could carry it with a smile.... Garths earlier stuff was a little heavy ( for a girl) but after time he has perfected all dementions of his work.. I carry one with PRIDE and zero complaints...

Look at the positive instead of the negative, just as I said they are built like tanks and to last but I would not carry a 30 pounder around the DCC, Vegas or SBE, it weighs more then both my new 2 by 4 cases combined. Its all good if your carrying your case from the car to the poolroom. Like I said, well built case, heavy, tough to get in the pockets, just telling it like it is but its built to last a lifetime and certainly protects your cue while looking great. I also think Garth is a good guy regardless of what he thinks of me and his customer service from what I hear from everyone is wonderful. ;)

Weight

I have no problem accepting the fact that a bit more heft in a case is a desirable trade-off for better cue protection. I wouldn't feel comfortable placing several thousand dollars worth of cues in a case that weighs less than one of my sneakers and expect it to protect my investment. Sometimes squeezing weight out of a case to attain a lighter version compromises the cases' ability to provide the case's primary function - to protect its contents from damage.

For special events (SBE, DCC, etc.) in which I'd be walking around all day carrying it, sure, a cheap, soft ultra-light case may be a good idea. And I'd also enjoy the feeling of not having to worry about my investment case being swiped while my head was turned or while I was playing.

But the remaining 360 days of the year I'd rather have my cues in my OnQ case. It provides peace of mind and looks awesome.

Or get shoulder pads with more padding, there are backpack style straps too.
